Powered by Mom Shares her 15 Minutes - Take a Break!
15 minutes of what? 15 minutes for me to take a break, stretching, getting off my computer chair and taking a walk. That's one of my goals this year is to get back to my 15 minutes. Yesterday was the first day back at it where I dragged hubby, daughter and the two dogs out for a walk and then it started to rain but you know what it wasn't so bad in fact I enjoyed it.
Over the summer I was very good at taking at least a 15 minute break away from my computer work to ease those weary eyes. Of course it was much easier to do during the summer when the sun was shining and I could feel the glorious heat as I stepped outside into my back yard. Oh how I long for the sunshine, well you know what I will get some sunshine right now, maybe not as warm nor as often but it will come out.
Oops sorry got distracted talking about the sun, back to that 15 minutes, it can make a world of difference to give yourself (or myself) that break and in the grand scheme of things 15 minutes or 30 minutes is not that long but can do a lot of good! So while my 12 year old daughter might not have been thrilled with the walk in the rain yesterday the fresh air and exercise did her good and did her mom and dad a world of good.
While everyone was out of the house today (Monday) I kept on with my goal and took the chihuahua for a walk and made it 30 minutes. I enjoyed walking around the "hood", the fresh air, stretching my legs and that 30 minutes made me feel I accomplished something today. So that's my goal just 15 minutes or maybe more rain or shine to get away from my computer and walk but maybe if it's raining super duper hard I'll walk up and down the stairs and still get that stretch.
15 minutes or more can make a big difference what do you do to just give yourself a much needed break?
I have done this many times at my jobs, I still do it. Nothing better then a walk as good as meditation for me!!!
There's always a nice day in winter to take a walk, it's important and it will refresh your mind! 🙂
I totally agree Lorenzo 🙂
It's so difficult to do this in winter, here! Today we (8 yr old and myself) walked to the laundromat and nearly froze, not to mention slipping on the ice a few times... and we walked in the street cuz the sidewalks were worse! Only 4 blocks each way, so it wasn't quite 15 mins but it was all we could handle. We both got new bicycles for Christmas and can't wait for Warner weather so we can get back to our 15 miles per week habit. 🙂 good luck with your breaks!
Hi Essijay,
With weather conditions like that I"m sure it is hard to get out there and walk brrr but your 15 minutes doesn't have to be outside, You can try stretching, dancing with your eight year old, hoola hoops if there's room and other suck activities inside 🙂
I was so glad to see this post. I "used to", get it?. I used to give myself an hour online and then I had to take a half hour break. I really need to get back to that because I am getting a bad case of Cabin Fever! Thanks!:)
You are welcome Joyce 🙂
Playing on the computer is usually my break time. It's fun to catch up on what's going on in the world around you.
A 15/20 minute walk a day can help you lose weight as well (with a good diet). I make it a point when it is warm out to take a walk after dinner. It feels so good!
Thanks for sharing, gonna start doing this also. Can only help my knees which have both been replaced and might even help in my weight loss goals!!
This is one of my goals as well...we are waiting till I recover from a tonsilectomy, then gonna try to get in a 30 min walk each nite...me, hubs, a 6 yr old, 5 yr old, 3 month old, and a 7 week old puppy lol...gonna be a circus.
I just read this and it is something I should be doing cause on my days off I don't want to move off the couch ad I find myself becoming stiff n sore .So this is some good advice to work on .
thanks
