  1. I learned that lifestyle changes can prevent prediabetes from turning into full-blown diabetes, which can ultimately lead to kidney damage and kidney failure if not properly managed.

  2. my granny is on Dialysis and whenever she goes to dialysis they do blood work. Which she has to pay for and with this blood work they do lab work and if anything comes back bad, she would be taken off until her labs read good. It is an on going struggle trying to get a kidney and without the support so few make it. It's great that there are places that donate and help these families in need.

  3. my daughter-in-law Gretchen is a kidney dialysis patient...she had cancer as a child & by age 19, needed a transplant, for which her mom was a match. the donated kidney was rejected after 6 mos. & she's been on dialysis the last 13 years. wishing many blessings for Christina.

  4. I did not know that diabetes is the main risk factor for liver disease. My husband is pre-diabetic and I just learned that they should check for protein in urine yearly to check if he's developing diabetes. Thanks for this info.

  5. I didn't know that cholesterol deposits could cause kidney disease. I have high cholesterol. It's a scary world if you think too hard about it. My heart goes out to that family, and I hope they find a kidney!

  6. As a nurse- i see the devastating effects of diabetes. Eat right, take care of your blood sugars to keep them balanced. High blood sugars can cause many other problems including blindness, neuropathy and kidney failure.

  7. When the blood vessels in the kidneys are damaged, your kidneys cannot clean your blood properly. This can cause your body to retain more water and salt than it should and waste materials can build up in your blood instead of being removed by the kidneys and excreted in the urine.
