Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil DIY Roller

If you are an essential oil user, you are probably familiar with oils like lavender, frankincense and peppermint. These are more commonly used and for good reason, but there are several great oils out there you don’t see as much information about. Like Cinnamon Essential Oil or Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil, or in scientific terms, Cinnamomum Zeylanicum, is one of those oils. It is a wonderful source for many health benefits and has such a tasty flavor as well.

Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil

When you first think of cinnamon, you probably think of a hot, spicy flavor that is commonly used as a cooking spice, and that is exactly what it is best known for. As far as using the herb vs. the oil, it is about the same thing, with the exception of the oil being much more potent. As long as you remember that when using it, you’ll love it.

It can really add a sweet and spicy punch to your baking among other things, with its unique flavor, but best to always use a little less to begin with and then add more if needed, rather than have it overpower your foods.

When using it any other way, remember to always dilute it when using it, by adding it into a carrier oil or a lotion, when using topically, or use only 1 to 2 drops in a diffuser instead of 3 or 4 like you may another oil.

If you are using to cook or bake with, always be sure that the oil you are using is 100% certified pure therapeutic grade oil. This means that it is safe for not only aromatic use, but also internal or topical use. Using DoTERRA’s Cinnamon Bark essential oil is a safe way to go and you won’t need to worry whether it has had anything added. Theirs tastes fantastic and is totally safe. I love to add a drop to my coffee for added flavor!

DO YOUR RESEARCH USE – QUALITY ESSENTIAL OILS

As you probably know I’m a fan of doTERRA essential oils as I have confidence in the quality they are providing in their essential oils. While I love buying a lot of things on Amazon I do not recommend buying essential oils on Amazon. If you haven’t heard of him look up Dr. Robert Pappas he has done independent 3rd party testing on essential oils. He exposed THREE popular brands sold on Amazon claiming to be 100% pure essential oil, nope they had synthetic ingredients in them.

You do not want to use oils with synthetic ingredients, it defeats the purpose of using essential oils. Using topically it goes into your bloodstream etc.. Check out the GC-MS analysis report for the essential oils of any brand you’re looking at buying from. If they can’t provide that I would be weary. doTERRA’s are available at: https://sourcetoyou.com/ and are batch specific.  Look for the lot numbers on the bottom of the doTERRA bottles and enter it on that site.

There are a few types of cinnamon out there, as far as oils go, and cassia is another form of it that is slightly different and has some different uses as well that you may want to research. If you are using DoTERRA’s cinnamon bark essential oil, then here is some information about it specifically. It is a steam distilled process they use to extract it from the bark and its main constituents are: Cinnamaldlehyde, Eugenol and Phenol.

It is found in their women’s blend, Clary Calm, Their metabolic blend, Slim and Sassy, and also one of their top-selling blends, On Guard. Those are all very good blends that are wonderful all for different things so that should help tell you how valuable it is as an oil.

The origins of its name go back to an Indonesian term, “kayumanis” which means “Sweet wood”, and the word “cinnamon” is taken from the Hebrew word, “kinnamon”. It  was used in Biblical times and by the Ancient Egyptians. They used it frequently in trading and guarded their sources, keeping them secret.

Madagascar is one of the main places cinnamon bark essential oil is sourced from, but some companies grow their own as well, instead of sourcing from where it is naturally already grown.

Cinnamon Bark essential oil is described as being Protective, Spicy, Awakening and Warm. It blends well with citrus oils, Patchouli and also Myrrh.

As far as using it, here is some information and suggestions for some practical uses for it:

Its top properties are: Antiseptic, Antimicrobial, Antioxidant, Antifungal, Antiviral and Aphrodisiac.

Use it Topically, Aromatically and internally, and as mentioned above, always dilute when using on the skin, and take it easy when adding to anything internally or into foods. It is a great support for healthy metabolic function, and it promotes a healthy circulatory system. It also helps boost the immune system.

The opening of the roller bottle is narrow. To avoid wasting coconut oil we use a pump to get into the roller bottle as shown below.

Here are some suggested ways you can use cinnamon bark essential oil for treating health issues:

  • For pancreas and blood sugar:

Take 2 to 3 drops internally in a veggie capsule, along with a glass of water.

  • For colds, viruses, and flu:

Take 2 to 3 drops internally in a veggie capsule with a glass of water. You can also apply topically, with your favorite carrier oil or lotion. Add to the bottoms of the feet, a few times per day. You can also diffuse in the air to kill virus and bacteria.

  • For cholesterol and heart health:

Apply 1 drop, along with favorite carrier oil or lotion, to limbs or bottom of the feet. This will warm you and increase blood flow and circulation.

  • To treat muscle strain or joint pain:

Apply topically with a carrier oil or lotion to areas with aches and pains.

  • Oral health support.:

Add one drop and gargle with a glass of water for overall oral health, and a few times a day, when fighting any oral infections.

  • Baking/food

Add 1 to 2 drops into you hot chocolate, coffee or tea for added flavor. Also, when adding to hot tea, will help relieve a sore throat.

When adding to baking recipes, dip a toothpick into the oil and stir in a little at a time, tasting to test, instead of adding full drops. A little goes a long way

doTERRA Cinnamon Essential Oil Roller Remedy Recipe Type : Essential oil DIY Roller Remedy Blend for Muscle Aches and Joint Pain Relief

Ingredients

  • Using a 10 ml. sized glass roller ball bottle,

Add in the following oils:

  • 10 drops frankincense
  • 8 drops cinnamon bark
  • 12 drops lavender
  • 10 drops marjoram
  • 8 drops basil

Instructions

  1. Add them all in carefully, as most have a thinner consistency and will run out of the bottle fast.
  2. Once you have added those drops, top off the bottle with fractionated coconut oil, or another carrier oil of your choice. Fill it up to the top, just ender the part where the bottle gets skinnier and the lid screws on. Then, add on your roller ball top. Press down well to be sure it clicks all the way down and is fit tightly, with no gap, or it will leak. Then add on the lid.
  3. Make a nice label if you’d like and then you are all set!
  4. To use: Roll blend over areas where aches and pains are. You can repeat as needed throughout the day. Be sure to always be drinking water to help flush out the toxins

Notes

I can't stress this enough. Make sure you do the research on whatever essential oil you buy. You don't want one that has synthetics in it. This is why I use doTERRA as I know they're safe to use on my skin, ingest (the ones you can ingest that is) etc.

  7. Unfortunately I love the smell and taste of cinnamon. I happen to be highly allergic to it, so I can get no benefits from it. I had to give all my cinnamon and cinnamon oils away because my body cannot handle one little drop or one little bite.
