Do you have a Halloween Tradition? #TargetTrickorTweet

Powered by Mom and family have a few Halloween traditions as we think this time of the year is so much fun we like to go all out and enjoy ourselves. Let's share our Halloween traditions!

Every year for the last seven years we go to another family's house, we've known them for years and our daughter and theirs have known each other since they were in kindergarten. Well here we are, the girls are now 13 and we still have a ton of fun at Halloween. It starts with decorating our friends' yard. They make a graveyard every year, everyone loves to stop by and check out their cemetery.

Here's a picture of the graveyard one year. I can't wait to show you what it looks like this year, I'll be sharing those pictures right after Halloween 🙂

Cemetery

Doesn't that look like fun? Trust me it is every year, we add a little something to her decorations. Last year she got a fog machine to make it even spookier. In the past our husbands would take the girls out trick or treating while we moms stayed at the house, sat outside with our witches hats on and handed out the candy to everyone who came by, young and old.

People would stop by to take pictures of the cemetery as it always catches everyone's attention. Our other tradition in addition to the cemetery is before the trick or treating fun begins we all get together for dinner. The table is done up harvest style with a few fun additions like the pumpkin "throwing up" appetizer. It's so festive and hey it doesn't stop me from eating the dip, it's just fun.

Look at our harvest feast that we had last year.

I've got a few ideas I want to share with my friend for this year, I can't wait to show you all when it's done. I'm going to surprise her too with a few new decorations that I saw at Target that will be perfect for the cemetery and her front entrance way.

I think something to go with this guy below that she usually hangs near the front door, what do you think? I think this guy could use a buddy this year!

Skeleton

I'm off to go get those decorations at Target, they are on sale for some fabulous prices, I don't want to miss out!

Share your favourite Halloween traditions we want to read about them!

  1. I have enough scary/Halloween DVDs in my collection to start a tradition of watching a movie on Halloween night. They never run out of scary ones on TV either.

  2. I put up decorations around the front of my apartment. Usually lots of spiders and spooky things. On Halloween, I pass out candy to the neighbor hood kids and wait to check out all the cool costumes. My grandson is going to be one of the super heroes, he just hasn't decided yet. 🙂

  3. Every year for the last 4 yrs we all go to my sisters house for dinner. She has the table set with halloween decor. She gets pizza. My nieces and granddaughter(5 months) get dressed in their costumes to go trick or treating. My daughter is excited since it's my granddaughter Chloes first halloween. I stay at the house to hand out candy. It's always fun seeing all the different costumes. I'm sure I'll be seeing lots of Frozen costumes. My niece is going to be Elsa. Thank you for sharing your friends cool cemetery pics 🙂

  9. Sadly the neighborhood I am in does not get any Halloween traffic, so it does me no good to go all out at my house for Halloween, but now that I have a little girl myself, I now go with another couple that we are friends wtih, and we trick or treat their neighborhood. Their neighborhood really comes together, and goes all out for Halloween, they block the streets off to keep cars from driving through, they set up haunted houses, bounce houses, cook hot dogs, decorate sugar cookies! Its like a mini festival!

  11. Our family has always loved decorating, not just the inside, but even the outside of our house for Halloween!! We go all out with pumpkins, scarecrows, ghosts and light-up displays. It has become a family affair with each one adding their own special touch. Our home becomes a gathering place for all the cousins and friends on Halloween!

  12. My dad is an artist, so we would always decorate the house and carve awesome pumpkins. And of course we always went Trick or Treating around the neighborhood for hours, until we got a pillowcase full of candy.

  17. We have had traditions in the family, usually dad takes out the kids to walk the surrounding neighborhood while mom stays home and passes out the candy. Also occassionally a trunk or treat works into the schedule. Also Family Halloween parties, with lots of hilarious games!

  23. When my kids were younger ,we used to go to my sister in-laws house. She and I would pass out candy while the men took the 7 kids out trick-or-treating. We had the easy job. This was our night off. We would sit and talk for hrs without any kids. It was great.

  24. My two gf's and I take a trip every year halloween time to a haunted house, hayride, or scary place. Sometimes we drive 4 hours just to get there, enjoy it, and then drive home and stop at some creepy roadside diner for a bite to eat. So far we've traveled to NY,PA,DE,MA,CT and our home state NJ!!! We love going to Salem MA, but that's a weekend trip because that's a six hour drive and so much to see and do!!! I love this time of year!!!

  25. This is awesome. I don't usually decorate my place 'cause it's just me, and I live in an apartment. But if I had my own house, I would TOTALLY be decorating my yard for the holiday!! Halloween's my favorite!

  26. No real traditions, other than the parade at school, followed by Trick or treating, followed by way too much candy & a fight to go to bed. Ah, good times.

  30. Years ago they used to have a Halloween Decorating Contest in the borrow of Spring City. We used to go all out like in the pictures. We made a casket and we had torches lit and everything. It was really cool, however, dummy me forgot to take any pictures! They've done away with the contest and it's an awful lot to do for just one night. So, we just put a few home made decorations out and the kids and I carve and paint pumpkins and set them out. Nothing to spectacular anymore. It was getting to be too much because the day after you were out taking all of the decorations that you worked weeks on down. I do love Halloween though. I love how excited the kids are to go and get their candy! Thanks for sharing these pictures! I look forward to seeing what this year's decorations are! Thanks again, Michele 🙂

  31. Ever since I was little we have had chili for dinner on Halloween. It was my favorite meal and the only way my mom could get me to eat dinner that night. I was so excited to go out trick or treating that I wouldn't eat. It just became a part of Halloween so I continued it with my daughter.

  32. I love what you have done. Very creative! I use to decorate like that every year. We'd have about 100 trick or treaters. I moved now I have none. So sad because I love Halloween.

  35. Now that is an impressive "cemetery"! And that Harvest feast is an absolutely gorgeous display! I love the pumpkin dip too, LOL! My husband and I usually stay inside and watch horror flicks. I generally always make a nice big dinner to celebrate and some kind of Halloween dessert for the two of us!

  36. We set our haunted yard within minutes of trick or treating while kids are eating dinner. That way they gave no clue how scary it is going to be. Usually it I s the teens who run away screaming! Good times!
