My daughter and I have been waiting and waiting for the movie Inside Out to come to theatres and on June 19, 2015 our wait was over! That day also happened to be the day my daughter had her last final exam for her first year of high school so we made a date that I would pick her up after her exam and we would go to see Inside Out.

See how excited my daughter looks?

Inside Out at the movies

We got there for a 2:30pm show so it wasn't busy and that was just perfect for us as it was like we had our own personal screening of the movie along with 10 strangers lol. Let me tell you Inside Out does not disappoint it is an entertaining movie that the whole family will enjoy.

What's it about you say?

I'm so glad you asked because you'll want to know more and then head right on out with the family to watch it. Let me ask you have ever wondered what goes on inside someone's head, what were they thinking? Well this Disney Pixar movie gives you a gloriously funny yet compelling look into the voices in our heads. Riley is a tween girl who loves hockey, monkeying around and loves her family. We get a glimpse into her head and her emotions oy (Amy Poehler), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Fear (Bill Hader), and Anger (Lewis Black) as they run things in headquarters.

all emotions

Her emotions are growing with Riley so even for them they have to figure things out and thus ensues a sweet, hysterical and touching story of mishaps, learning moments and discovering more about what makes us well us. We get to follow along the ride that is Riley's emotions and the best way I can put it is that you'll experience all those emotions but in a good way, amazing animation, will appeal to adults and kids and has a message yet it's not preachy at all. It is in my opinion the best movie Pixar has created and I don't say that lightly as I've loved all (yes all) of their movies.

Okay confession time I loved the movie so much I got Joy, Anger, Fear, Disgust & Sadness figures with the intent to give them to my daughter. I'm keeping them on my desk instead, they just make think of the movie and appreciate all of my emotions. shh don't tell my daughter, her set is on the way LOL

Inside Out Emotions

One of my favorite moments in the movie is when we get to see the emotions in Riley's parents' heads and how they try to signal each other. My daughter turned to me and said hey you and dad totally do that with me. Darn we've been outed but it's just another wonderful example of how Inside Out relates to all of us in some way. You'll know what I mean when you see the movie but you can also check out the clip below 🙂

Had to share this picture with you. How cute are these, it's from the red carpet premier that my good friend Kristin at It's Free At Last got to attend! Check out her site HERE and she'll give you 7 more reasons to see Inside Out as if you need them 🙂

You start to love those animated characters Fear, Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Anger and the imaginary friend Bing Bong each for their own unique qualities as they touch something in each of us. It's just a brilliant movie that will reach people of all ages but don't take my word for go and see it for yourself. Just think if my 13 year old daughter and I both love it it must be a fabulous movie. So much so my daughter is going again next week with friends (apparently I'm not invited this time) to see it again! It's not easy to please a teenager so Inside Out is that good of a movie.

Here's a sneak peak for you!

  1. I watched this movie with my kids, and was very impressed by it. It's not like any other animated movie we've seen. I could be a little bit of all of these emotions!

  4. Thanks for the review! I've heard it's pretty dark and deep and emotionally-overwhelming, so I've been planning to screen it before showing my soft-hearted aspie boy... but i'm a soft-hearted aspie gal and i'm worried it's just going to destroy me emotionally... heh. maybe i'll just let him watch it while i'm not around 🙂

  5. I saw the film with niece and loved it as well. And like you I enjoyed seeing the emotions of the parents it was really funny so as the emotions of the boy Riley says something too. I don't blame you for keeping the figurings for yourself I would have done the same though my nieces and nephew do have a way of getting me or my mother to hand over any kids related stuff I have.

  6. I have been so excited for this to come out. My son has Autism and he has troubles understanding and handling feelings. He is so glued to this movie. Any trailer or commercial he is just memorized by it. He won't go to a movie theater so I am so excited when it comes out on DVD. Hope it's soon.

  22. Thanks so much for the Wonderful Review on Inside Out Movie Review! This really looks like a fantastic movie for the entire family! I would really love to see it as well! I was talking with my oldest daughter and mentioned this movie. Do you know, my daughter, a mother of 2 small children, had never heard of this movie! I was dumbfounded! She's up here with the kids because my father fell off a ladder 2 weeks this Friday and was paralyzed and was flown to Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. She came up as soon as she was told about his accident and I'm glad she did. My father had so many problems that the doctors couldn't do anything that helped. He passed away on Thursday night. Her visit is bitter sweet! Before this had happened, I asked her what she thought about taking the kids to see this movie and, now that I think about it, I don't think she answered me! huh! Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful review, the pictures, the clip, and your personal and professional opinions on Inside Out Movie Review with all of us! I truly do appreciate it! Thanks again! Michele
