#CDNChickenMonth

Why do I want you to know it's National Chicken Month in Canada you may wonder? There's oh so many reasons but to start chicken is Canada's #1 protein choice and we want to celebrate all the Chicken Farmers of Canada. Oh the celebrations that will be happening too, there will be exciting contests and much more. Let's celebrate the Chicken Farmers of Canada and all their hard work and dedication to farming.

Don't forget to RSVP for the Twitter party on September 18, 2017 and enter the recipe contest. Info is at the bottom of this article. We told you there's lots of celebrating going on this month!

One of my favourite chicken recipes is my Easy Grilled Chicken Bowl Recipe. You can add whatever you have in the fridge and even use up leftover chicken.

Did you know that the 90% of those farms are family owned businesses? Both my hubby and I are self-employed and we know the challenges of running your own business. We love to recognize and support Canadian, family owned businesses, we know how hard they work. We only buy chicken raised by a Canadian Farmer because we know that from gate to plate, our Canadian chicken farmers work hard to ensure that their chickens are raised to world-class standards.

You know you're buying chicken from a Canadian Chicken Farmer when the package has the logo above. In addition to supporting family owned and operated farms we know that our chicken is grain-fed, free of hormones and steroids. ALL Canadian chicken farmers have to follow a strict and mandatory, audited Animal Care Program. These are ALL very, very important to me as a consumer, mother and a human being. I also appreciate that chicken farmers across Canada are active in their community. Not only do they make regular donations – both in cash and kind- to food banks, but they also support Canadian swimmers through their partnership with Swimming Canada.

In addition to supporting Canadian Chicken Farmers we love chicken becomes it's versatile, and it's great for our health. It's a perfect mix of lean protein and healthy fats and you never run out of chicken recipes. From our Grilled Chicken Burger with Maple Mayo Drizzle to our Honey Balsamic Chicken Recipe. There's always a delicious chicken recipe to be made. If I run out of inspiration I check out the recipe section of Chicken.ca for some yummy ideas.

In addition to peace of mind on the quality of chicken we're buying, the health benefits and versatility we just love the taste. Even my picky eater my teen-aged daughter will always eat chicken. Before she would eat any other protein she loved chicken and still does, it's our go-to protein that never fails us. So let's celebrate National Chicken Month and all that our Canadian Chicken Farmers hard work and the amazingness of well chicken.
