Family Fun at Medieval Times in Orange County!

Medival-Times-3

This past summer we had the opportunity to enjoy several different adventures while in California. One of them was Medieval Times in Orange County, which was tons of fun! There were six of us in total that went, four adults and two children, aged 8 & 12 and every single one of us had a fabulous time! As you can see from the picture above we went on a Monday night for the 6:00pm show, it was early August. Lucky for us we were staying at a hotel that was only a five minute drive away.

About Medieval Times

There's a reason Medieval Times is the No. 1 dinner attraction in North America: Our unique combination of a medieval banquet and thrilling competition between Knights captures the imagination of all ages.

This picture below just gives you an idea of the seating across from us, this goes all the way around, vast but not too big that you feel you are too far away from the action.

I was surprised when we got there at how busy it was for a Monday night but as the night progressed I came to see why it was so popular! The arena if you will is huge with a ton of different seating but no matter where you sit you get a great view, that's one of the things I liked about it was that there was no bad seating.

You get assigned your color section and seating based on your tickets, you can buy special packages that include pictures, a souvenir and seating in certain areas. We had gone with the regular seating and had no complaints, we were in the blue section which meant we were rooting for the blue knight.

Above is my daughter (on the left) and my niece (on the right) just before the show started, they were pretty excited for the show.

The gist of it is you all root for your knight, hence the color coding and a series of battles ensues as battle for the kingdom begins. There's a king and princess of course, a bad guy, magnificent horses and well just an amazing show.

Medival-Times-4

How could you not be drawn in with such imagery in front of you? Here we have all the knights of the kingdom, the various colors that were represented in each section. The master of ceremonies the King's advisor would have the audience interact when we cheered for our knight and booed their opponents.

Medival-Times-8

Did I mention the magnificent horses? Oh yes I did, kids and adults alike oohed and ahhed at the performance of these beautiful animals, their intelligence and beauty shone through, they were a wonder just to look at.

Check out the slideshow below to get just a hint of the action of this show!

The food was extremely good, we gobbled it so fast I forgot to take pictures! Naturally everything you get you have to eat with your hands but there was so much food I couldn't eat it all. We had soup in a metal bowl with a handle, the handle was hot so you had to let it cool first. You got a garlic bread, then a huge and I mean huge piece of chicken, ribs, unlimited pop, coffee or tea and a pastry for dessert. I was impressed by the food as it was all good, tender, not overcooked, that is quite the feat for the number of people being fed. In fact for our friend he said it was the best meal of our vacation and we had some great meals!

Medival-Times-7

Overall everyone had fun, there was lots of energy and enthusiasm, the food was good and it was a great night of entertainment. I thought it would be hoky but it was a great family event, I would recommend it for anyone.

I had no idea that we have a Medieval Times in Canada, it's in Toronto, too far for me, the California one we attended is actually closer. There are eight locations in the US and the one in Canada as I mentioned so if you're ever near any of them I highly recommend you attend a show with the family.

Medival-Times-6

It's great for special events like birthdays, anniversaries and even newlyweds as we saw all of those at the show. They do special announcements for all of those during the show but you don't need it to be a special event to attend. If you want to find out more and to see the locations GO HERE. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as we did!
