Powered by Mom brings you a review on Modern Table Meals

When I was asked if I would like to review the Modern Table Meals I was intrigued when learned that the pasta the main part of these meals were bean based. I thought to myself how tasty could a bean based pasta possibly be, especially when it only takes about 15-20 minutes to make. Well let me tell you not only do I will I "eat my words" I'm happy to do so as long as I can continue to have my Modern Table Meals.

Modern Table Meals Italian Penne

Modern Table Meals come in four flavors, Italian, Mediterranean, Teriyaki and Southwest. Each has it's own unique flavor but they all have the following in common:

  • Protein rich bean based pasta - 12-20g of protein per serving
  • No artificial colors or preservatives
  • Easy to make and ready in 15-20 minutes or less
  • DELICIOUS!

I was lucky enough to receive a wonderful box of all of their flavors so that my family and I could try them all and more than once. Thank goodness we were given enough for several meals as they have become quite popular in my home! I admit I love pasta but for obvious reasons I can't always eat it, so many carbs and the wheat didn't always agree with me. A while back I switched to brown rice pastas which I like but it does have its own unique flavor. I love that with the Modern Table Meals has Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, Folate and Potassium in it, so many nutrients in a delicious.

Italian

One of the first Modern Table Meals I decided to try was the Italian Red Lentil Penne with Roasted Red Pepper Sauce & Parmesan Herb Seasoning, delicious! It is so easy to make, you have the pasta, the spices for the sauce and if you need and/or want it, herbs for topping off the pasta.

You just cook the pasta, the boiling time varies for the pasta. For the penne one it said 8-9 minutes however for me it took about 15 minutes, not sure if my stove wasn't hot enough or what. The important thing is to stir occasionally and keep checking until you figure out the timing for each pasta on your stove.

While the pasta is cooking you mix the sauce ingredients with water and oil according to the directions. Once the pasta is cooked, drained etc.. you stir in the sauce you just mixed.

The serve and top with the smaller packet of herbs if you want. I find the pasta so flavorful I don't need to add that but I do add pepper and a bit of parmesan because I love parmesan 🙂 Serve and enjoy it's so easy and delicious. I've added chicken to the pastas sometimes which is a nice change but it really fills you up then as the Modern Table Meal just the way it is is filling.

Enjoy!

  1. I tried the plain pasta version (not the "meal" with spice packets) and it was amazingly yummy with a quick tomato sauce and broccoli. No need to "add meat for protein" since there is already TONS of protein in the bean pasta -- no animal protein is necessary, which is a lovely and healthy plant-based alternative! Already looking forward to trying more of this brand.

  4. What is amazing to me is that they are made from beans, I love that! I definitely need to get more beans into my diet but have a hard time doing it. With this I can have the "pasta" that I love and get beans too 🙂 My roommate is always trying to get more protein in his diet so he would love that these have 12-20g of protein per serving. I definitely look forward to trying these pastas.

  6. I learned that each bean based pasta dish has 12-20g of protein per serving! That is awesome! I also like how you can adjust the seasoning for each individual plate, some in my house like to go light on seasoning. They look delicious and nutritious!

  7. Beans are high in fiber, which can help lower choles-terol and control blood sugar levels. While they’re not
a “wonderful fruit” like the rhyme suggests, the fiber in beans also helps regulate the digestive system.

  10. As someone who has to eat gluten-free, finding replacement pasta has been hard. Corn pasta is too grainy, and quinoa pasta gets gluey. I would LOVE to try bean-based pastas. They look delicious and your review made them sound delicious as well!

  13. Thanks so very much on the Fantastic Review on Modern Table Meals! These meals sound like they are really very tasty! I've never tried pasta made with beans before. I'm just wondering if the family would like it or not. I have some really picky, picky eaters to feed here! Are all of their meals on the spicy side? Are these sold in the grocery stores? The pictures that you shared, looked very delicious. And, they sound so easy to make as well! Thanks so much for sharing your fantastic review, the pictures, and the personal and professional information on Modern Table Meals Review with all of us! I truly do appreciate it! Thanks again! 18. I just discovered that I am a brown rice person too. I agree it has it's own flavor. I think with the sauces that these meals come with, it would mix well with brown rice and pasta. I love teriyaki, so I want to try that flavor too 🙂 Thank you for the review!

  19. That looks really good for something that's like a boxed dinner! What I like about these boxed dinners is you can customize it by adding meat or shrimp for protein. Definitely going to keep an eye out for this next time I go grocery shopping!

  20. I would love to try all of the flavors. I have given up most pasta because it is so high in carbs but this would be great. I love that is has such a high amount of protein because my daughter will not eat meat.

  21. I'm seriously pumped for these. I try to maintain a reduced meat diet, but that can be challenging on gym days where I want that extra protein. I feel like I have to make something from scratch and be super creative i.e. time consuming. The fact that this pasta is bean based means I wouldn't have to spend so much time coming up with a meal.

  28. The Modern Table products are so neat. I've seen them a few times (not in person, though) and have been really wanting to try them. What I love is that all the ingredients are included and all the spices and such are individually packaged. It makes cooking a meal so simple! The Italian meal sounds so yummy!
