Set the party mood on fire with colorful fireman themed décor. Great themed decorations can easily be purchased to coordinate, especially in the classic fireman color palette of red, white, black, orange and yellow.  But, don’t be afraid to make some sparks of your own by using a little elbow grease to DIY some items.  PVC pipe can be cut and spray painted to look like a fireman pole.  Tissue paper and crepe paper can be trimmed and fashioned into flames.  Little guests will be thrilled to see their favorite neighborhood firehouse spotted dog in the mix of bright decor.  Make some from white poster board and Sharpies or purchase plush versions.  Throw in themed props like fire chief hats, hydrant inspired cups, toy fire trucks. Displaying items in “water pails” can add another fun thematic element.  Don’t forget to add some custom decorations via printable labels, tags, banners and toppers!  This is always an easy way to bring a theme to life!

Fire up guests with an impressive snack & beverage station. Carry your creative décor to the refreshment area.  Repurpose discarded cardboard, and create buildings to display snacks and treats.  Brainstorm clever fireman themed names for favorite munchies.  For example, “Tortilla Stop, Drop and Roll-Ups” or “Flaming Cupcakes”.  Use printable flags, cupcake toppers and labels to dress up food items and help coordinate the look.  Make sure to have some smokin’ items on display, such as a fire hydrant shaped cake or ladder cookies!  Candy like Atomic Fire Balls and Red Hots would make fun additions.  Even your beverages can coordinate with creative labels like “fire extinguisher”.

Have a blazing good time with themed party activities.  Whether party guests ride on a fire truck, visit the local firehouse or mingle with firemen, you don’t want to extinguish their enthusiasm with dull activities. Run training drills, or put together a fun obstacle course for them to practice being a fireman.  Of course, safety is paramount and shouldn’t include real flames.  Group games like “hot potato” or “pin the fire hat on the chief” would be fun.  A fireman dress up relay race could be thrilling.  Beloved crafts, including building models, coloring or assembling puzzles are a winning choice!

Send guests home with thoughtful party favors to keep their party memories burning bright.  Coordinating party favors with the theme isn’t a must, but it is a fun way to keep the theme going even after the party has concluded. Scout out your local stores for red hot items like fire chief badges, stickers and hats.  Sometimes your local firehouse will even donate such items, and may have fireman themed activity booklets and stickers, too.  Otherwise, red or “hot” candy is a fun choice (depending on the age of your attendees).  Toys like small fire trucks or custom wrapped bubbles are loved as well.

With so many great ideas to choose from, you’re safe from party disaster and can save “sounding the alarm” for a true emergency!  Have a wonderful time adding that magical spark to your party guests’ eyes at your fireman themed soiree!

  3. This is such a cute idea! My nephews birthday is at the end of this month, and I think we are going to have to do this. I absolutely love DIY parties, and not the "straight from the package" type parties. My sister and I can have a blast with this one, and test our DIY skills to the max! Thank you so much!
