There are so many uses for lemon essential oil that it would take pages to write them all so I'm going to share my top 10. It's no secret that I love essential oils and it's become a lifestyle. I use doTERRA as I've learned over the years that it's imperative to utilize a good quality essential oil. Quality over quantity is important when it comes to essential oils.

Now my top 10 lemon essential oil uses

  1. Add a few drops to water or better yet sparkling water. The latter is my favorite. I rarely drink pop but I drink a lot of sparkling water and like to add a bit of flavor to it. If you need a bit of sweetness add a bit of liquid honey with lemon essential oil it's yummy.
  2. Body cleanser - add a few drops to distilled water to freshen your skin (test spot on your elbows). This one is not for the face.
  3. Use when steam mopping floors. I only use a steam mop so I add a few drops on the floor (not the machine) and use it to steam away. You can also use peppermint, any citrus and lavender.
  4. Smelly Garburator. Add 2 drops down your garburator with some warm water. No more smell
  5. Soak a cloth in lemon essential oil and use it to preserve and protect your leather furniture and other leather surfaces
  6. Diffuse of course to give the air a citrus scent that is energizing and let's face it just smells good. lemon essential oil 4
  7. Use on silver and other metals when they first start to tarnish
  8. Remove black grease from your hands from working on cars, bikes etc.. add lemon essential oil to your soap mixture and it gets that hard to wash off grease off of your hands.
  9. Baking or cooking add a few drops for more of a lemon zing. Think lemon meringue pie, oh so many baking recipes
  10. Stubborn or sticky residues, we've all had them in the kitchen, price tags on items etc.. Don't ruin your counters with scrubbing add a few drops of lemon oil to a cloth and wipe it off.

  11. I have not used essential oils, but would like to try. I used to take care of an autistic boy. His mother used essential oils on him to calm him down. They would make a great gift for my youngest daughter-in-law.

    • Hi Lisa,

No essential oils you don't find in most supermarkets. doTERRA you can order from individual wellness advocates like myself and other ones you can buy in some natural food/product stores. Be wary of very cheap brands that may contain synthetic ingredients. No matter what brand you buy do your research on them to make sure it's a good quality oil.

  20. When I walk into a room and it smells of lemon my mind always says clean.

Our minds are trained to think that a bigger bottle of something is better than the little one! What makes the doTERRA oils better?

  21. I have been interested in learning more about this essential oil movement but they seem to be very expensive. I am interested in all they have to offer but how can a person do this with the oils being so expensive??

    Reply
    • Hey Susan, when you actually cost it out the oils are not expensive not all of them. When you have a good quality of oil for example it can last months because you only need to use a few drops. When I diffuse it I use 2-3 drops, when I add it to water as a room spray 5-6 drops. doTERRA's lemon essential oil costs me about $10 and that bottle will last me months and it replaces several household cleaners. When people first start using oils the most common mistake is to use too much, of course if they buy a poorer quality oil they will have to use more and that supposedly cheaper oil is not more expensive. Feel free to email me if you want more inf.
