I received the Zumba Fitness Core for the Wii and let me tell you I was very excited when we it arrived! I try to exercise on a regular basis at least 3-4x/week but like many of you it's always a challenge to find the time. I don't care for the programs that require sit-ups or planks/push-ups to tone your abs. They are hard on my back and due to some damage to my wrists because of arthritis push-ups are out of the question so I need standing ab work and Zumba Core gives me that and more.
The first time I tried it out it was on the weekend and it was just my daughter and I at home so we decided to try it out together. For an 11 year old it wasn't mom asking her to exercise it was mom asking her to play a game on the Wii with her so it was a big yes when I asked her. We went through all the tutorials on learning the different moves before we tried out our first routine. I was amazed at how many songs and routines they had to choose from! It took us a while to decide which one to start with as there are so many choices. I like that it tells you if it's slower or faster cardio and I noticed after our first routine that you can choose ones for warming up and for cooling down. There doesn't seem to be anything they didn't think of!
Here's a quick picture I took of my daughter during one of the routines.
We did a warm-up, 2 medium cardio routines and a cool-down and yes we felt like we had worked out as we were getting sweaty but it was so much fun. It was a mom and daughter dance time and we didn't care if we looked silly we were having fun. I even impressed my daughter when I earned stars for getting the routine steps done accurately LOL. I thought that was too funny that she was surprised I could do the steps. I explained to her that mommy has done some dancing before and my favorite kind of exercise for cardio are the ones that don't feel like exercising which is usually dancing!
Overall we had a great time doing it and I felt that I got a good cardio workout done. As I mentioned we loved the huge variety of songs and routines to choose from and not only is a great way to exercise but it's something fun I can do with my daughter too! For that alone I'm giving  the Zumba Fitness Core a BIG two thumbs up and I know my daughter does too!  I've done a few more routines since then and the only suggestion I have at this point for an improvement and this is minor is that I would prefer if all the tutorials for the moves were in one file if you will instead of having to choose them all individually.
Now for the fun enter the giveaway for your chance at a either a Wii or Xbox Kinect edition of Zumba Fitness Core!
Please remember to only claim the entries you actually follow through on as we will verify entries for the winner. Thanks for keeping it fair for everyone!

  1. The number one stand out was you said you guys "felt like you worked out" which I think is important in video game fitness...that and you did it with your daughter, love it is something I can do with my kids and have fun while still getting active.

  3. I think one of my fave things is the choice of songs. With a lot to choose from, there's less chance I'd find it boring and quit!

As for what I learned from the review, I like that they let you know whether it's fast or slow cardio - and that there is a wide variety of music.
