It is never too early for teens to think about college and taking advantage of the resources available to them. In fact too many teens and their parents don't get the help they need to make the college admission process easier for them!
As someone who worked at universities and colleges for several years with the latter part of my time in student recruitment I've seen all too many times the difficulties that students have when going through the Admissions process. Their biggest stumbling block was their lack of planning and utilizing the resources out there. Unfortunately at most universities the admissions process can seem daunting, complicated and sometimes and sometimes impossible! I've seen students come in a week before classes starting wanting to apply, those who had know idea what scholarships or bursaries were out there to apply for and many, many more who had no idea where to even start! I've been a student and I remember that for my first college application it was daunting but by the time I applied for my graduate studies it was a breeze because I had the benefit of experience with the college admissions processes from working at a university. Not everyone has that experience in fact few do and this is where a book like the College Success Plan can help everyone! Parents and educators can share it with teens and get them on the track to SUCCESSFUL post-secondary education!
As a parent or as the teen would you like to know about the following?
- How to simplify the college admission process! (Let's face it too many colleges make it complicated!)
- How to outsmart the rising cost of tuition and not have a HUGE student loan debt!
- Find the college of your dreams!
- Get your College application noticed!
One of my favorite tips in this book is on p.77 where it's mentioned how students (and their parents) can save money by doing the first two years of their studies like an associate's degree and then transfer to the college of their choice. With the rising cost of tuition this an excellent choice as there many community colleges out there with good reputations but tuition can be a lot less compared to the "big universities". It doesn't mean students have to give up their goal of going to their "dream" college as long as you plan with an academic advisor they can save money the first two years and then finish off at the college of their choice.
There are many, many more helpful tips like this one to be discovered in The College Success Plan and as I've mentioned the earlier students and their families plan the better so grab this book while you can!

I have a daughter in med school & our son is a jr at UNCC. My nephew is a sr in high sch & is looking at college. He's considering the community college option for finances as well. You just have to make sure credits will transfer to the university you want. I had a friend whose daughter couldn't transfer but half the credits so she ended up going 3 years to a reg college which ended up taking a total of 5 yrs with both places.
My nephew is a sophomore and very interested in going to college and this is going to be very helpful
