  4. Everyone loves to dress up including my husband. I have always lived where the kids don't come trick or treating for we always have land around us. I loved taking the kids out when they were little. Now it is time for my grandson to start enjoying it. He is two and still quite young. I have other nephews and nieces that love Halloween too!!

  5. My favorite Halloween memory is of a friend of my brothers when we were teenagers. We lived in a three story apartment building that was known to give out good candy. The man upstairs worked at Mars Candy Co. Anyhow, Jim (brothers friend) sat on the front stoop and charged each kid a piece of candy to get into the building. I know it sounds mmean, but it sure was funny at the time.

  13. When the boys were smaller, we always went to the shopping malls for the 'safe' Halloween trick or treat events. The past several years; however, they have REALLY taken a shine to trying to find the scariest outfit possible (within budget) and scaring the Halloween hosts when we go trick or treating around the neighborhood. It's a hoot to watch them chase our resident Stephen King's "It" clown or our resident "Jason" and "Michael" that come out to scare the kids each year!!!

  17. We grew up in the country where houses are really far apart. Every Halloween we would go on the Horse Drawn Wagon from the farm next door, which would take us from house to house trick or treating. We did it for years and we always had a blast! When the night was over, they would drop us off at home.

  18. Long, long time ago, we used to go trick or treating for 1 week. The town where I lived and the next 3 towns all did the same dates and we were allowed to go from one end to the other. They were from 7-9 Monday till the following Monday. We used to come home with bags and bags of candy. WOW.

  19. I grew up on a farm and my friends were also on farms. One year we got to ride on the back of a big truck with a tarp over the back. We sat on hay bales. We rode from farm to farm trick or treating. It was the best memory I have of Halloween.

  20. The most memorable Halloween was when I was about 10 and we went by my great uncle's house after trick or treating to show him our costumes. He had already gone to bed but my aunt went and got him because he was still awake and she knew he would want to see us. That night, he had a massive heart attack and died. We were the last family members that got to see him alive. It has been more than 20 years and we still miss him.

  21. My kids- the candy. For me, I grew up in a resort area and the vacationers often forgot about the holiday and would give us cash or household items. It was so much fun to see the weird things we would come home with. One lady baked us cookies every year. Back then I though it was weird, they were homemade fig newtons! I'd love them now 🙂

  24. My FAVORITE Halloween memory is the first time my daughter went to Fright Night. She was sooo excited and sooo amped up, she was scared just standing in line. The whole time she had this nervous look on her face, but she kept saying "I'm not scared, this is so easy". The FIRST time one of the guys in costume popped up behind her she screamed BLODDY Murder!! Her face was priceless!

  34. When my son was younger, I used to really go all out in decorating for halloween. One year I think our house was the scariest in the neighborhood. I've always had mannequins, so I had them dressed and wearing masks. The male mannequin was holding a large rubber snake and the female was stirring a witches brew. Just as one mother was coming up the walk with her child, a breeze must have caused the rubber snake to start slithering out of the mannequin's hand and although I was not there to see this, ( I was trick or treating with my son) My partner at the time told me that it looked so real that even the mother was frightened!

He has picked out his costume (war machine), he has his treat bucket, he picked out a stencil for his pumpkin, he watches Disney Halloween all day, and he is going to trick or treat for the first time in his life. He has even tried to perfect the sneak up and say boo.

  54. Last year was my oldest daughter's first time really "Trick or Treating", and our first Halloween in Texas. When we were staying in the hotel, waiting for housing, she made a friend who went out with us. (Side note: Earlier in the day, we got our house! 😀 ) Anyway, the little girl was 3 1/2, and our daughter, Raven, had just turned two. The had a blast running from house to house, with me chasing them getting all kinds of goodies. And by the end of the night, Raven had learned to say "Trick or Treat." (Before, she was saying "Please" and then "Thank you" when she got candy. She still said "Thank you" when she received things later, too.)
