AMAZING David Copperfield Show
Well, I have to say 2015 is off to a fantastic start for me as I started the year (January 7-11th) by having to go to Las Vegas. While I was going there for work I was able to arrive one day early so that I could enjoy some things that I wanted to, one of which was to attend a David Copperfield show. Even though I have personally been to Las Vegas several times I have never gone to see David Copperfield. I decided it was time, especially since my hubby on one of his solo trips went to see David Copperfield and had nothing but praise for his show. My hubby is not one to easily give high praise for any show so his recommendation was more than enough to peak my interest.
I was able to bring my friend Kristin from It’s Free at Last with me to the show and the two of us were quite excited about going. While I had no idea what to expect as I’ve never (I know crazy) been to a magic show of any kind. I was a total magic show/illusions show newbie so I was looking forward to just enjoying and seeing what it was all about. Why was David Copperfield so popular and why has he received so many awards?
I will admit that before the show I was a mix of excited to go with a dash of skepticism thrown in. I mean really how spectacular could a live magic show be? In my defence my only reference was television shows and those that made fun of magic shows with the stereotypical rabbits out of the hat and obvious wires in the air etc.. Regardless of my doubts I was looking forward to the show and just seeing what all the fuss was about.
We had some fabulous seats. Our seats was a small round table in the center first row right smack dab up against the stage. So close we were leaning up against the stage and could touch it. Now there are some advantages and disadvantages in my opinion to these seats. Yes you are as close as you can get to the stage without actually being on the stage. You can “try” to see if you can figure out how they do the illusions but trust me I kept looking but you get caught up in the show as David Copperfield is engaging and his illusions are nothing short of amazing. There are no wires to be seen, there wasn’t anything I could see to “give away” the illusion. I mean I was sitting less than 15 feet away and can’t for the life of me figure out how they got a car on stage, seriously amazing.
One of the disadvantages to these seats are if you do have all four seats taken up at your table it is cramped, there is no room to move and you’re looking up at the stage because you’re so close. I found myself looking at David Copperfield’s shoes a few times as they were right there, with his feet in them of course. There are some awkward angles depending on where he’s standing. The row behind us looked more comfortable as they can sit and face forward and are up slightly higher so they aren’t having to twist their neck at weird angles.
Now would I have preferred to sit in the second row compared to the first row? I think for the first time attending the David Copperfield show, the opportunity to sit that close just added to the excitement and the experience so I am grateful for the seats that we had. The great thing is that the theater is small and comfortable so there really are no bad seats.
In addition throughout the show David Copperfield went into the audience and performed his amazing tricks while amongst the audience in various spots so that many had the opportunity to see him up close while he performed. He is a true performer in every sense of the word, he dazzles, he mesmerizes and just simply amazes everyone.
I did not expect to be blown away by this show and I have to admit my mind was blown. I’m not one to gush and go on about a show or even actors and those considered to be super stars. I found myself in awe and saying wow more than once as I simply couldn’t get over the astounding things happening right in front of me. As I mentioned we had everything from cars appearing on the stage to an amazing alien. Yes I said alien, the robotics on this thing was spectacular and you would think it would be hokey but it wasn’t at all. I’m not going to spoil it for you because if you haven’t been to a David Copperfield show you absolutely must attend the next time you’re in Las Vegas!
You will be mesmerized the entire 1.5 hours of the show and you’ll leave with at least one word in your head WOW or something like that. I’m so glad that I’ve attended it was worth the wait but I’m already planning on when I can go again and take my 13 year old daughter to it as I know it will be an experience she’ll always remember.
Fortunately I was able to bring her back a great souvenir as they have a little counter outside the theater where you can purchase an item or two. I got two booklets and when had the special opportunity to have a picture taken with David Copperfield after the show he kindly signed both booklets, one for myself to keep and one for my daughter who was over the moon about getting a signed booklet.
I highly recomnend getting the booklet as you will learn some things about David Copperfield and have some spectacular photos, especially since you can’t take photos during the show.
