Powered by Mom Blog wants to share some tips to help us all be healthier shoppers!
How healthy of a shopper are you? Do you buy low sodium items, organic or? What do you do to be healthier not only with your food but how about your home? What do I mean by that? I’m so full of questions aren’t I? LOL. Above are a bunch of products that have helped Powered by Mom’s family to eat and live healthier! We’re going to share how you can start taking some steps in the right direction!
Many people I have found think that to eat healthier and to use green cleaning products means it’s always going to cost a lot more money. That’s not always true and the more your learn and shop around you can many times eat healthier for the same or less compared to what it costs for food that’s not as good for you. I think the best way to look at it is that you don’t have to make a huge and drastic change, that’s too daunting and would deter almost everyone. Instead take baby steps, little changes here and there will add up over time and before you know it overall you’re eating healthier and have a healthier life style.
Start by getting a product here are there that’s either low in sodium gluten free or even just looking more at the labels and what the products really contain. I know I used to think that the eco-friendly dishwashing soap was more expensive and yes at first glance it is until you find out a few things. What are they? Well what I discovered was that the eco-friendly dish soaps lasted a lot longer! The ones I’ve used give me more suds and clean the dishes with less. Yet the other “cheaper” brands seemed to come out like water from the bottle so I end up using more.
In fact the bottle of eco-friendly dishwashing soap from Ecover in the picture above (front left) has lasted me almost two months and I’m not done with it yet! I wash a lot of dishes even though there’s only three of us here, I don’t put pots and pans in the dishwasher along with several other things so I’m washing dishes in the sink like my coffee cup a few times a day. It has saved me money so remember to think about things like that before you decide something is too expensive it might actually be a money saver 🙂
Try a new salad dressing but pick one that’s healthier for you but will still taste good (I promise). My new favourite salad dressing is the Goddess one pictured below! Unjunk Your Junk Food with better choices, they are out there just start looking around :). San-J and Simply Natural are two of my favorite brands for better choices for salad dressings, marinades, soy sauce and more!
