Do you need baby gates?
When babies are small we go through a lot to ensure their safety. They become mobile and it’s hard to stay one step ahead of them. Above all the obvious dangers such as sharp table corners and things they can pull down on themselves, these are areas that can be dangerous. When my daughter was a baby, we had the added worry of stairs in our house. Babies are quick and can get out of your sight in a heartbeat, even for the best of parents. We started to worry about her tumbling down the stairs.
While we had been doing our best to keep up with her, she became quick at escaping out of sight! We decided for her safety and our piece of mind we needed to purchase a couple of baby gates. We wanted one for the stairway and also one to keep for use in the kitchen entrance. Having a baby underfoot when cooking is not the safest of things. Anything from boiling water, to hot oil could get dropped or splattered on them. Even worse is them pulling something off off the stove on them!
I can tell you that when we had those baby gates up, I didn’t have to worry about her falling down those stairs ever as they were safely blocked off, it really did add to my piece of mind. There is not way I could have let my daughter crawl or walk around without the gate up at the top of the stairs. While I always knew where she was when she was crawling or walking around, it only takes a second for a tumble to happen so it’s best just to take precautions and avoid any potential dangers.
I know for many baby gates are an absolute necessity, we’ve even used them for our dogs so that they didn’t go into any area they weren’t allowed to especially when they would just come in from outside with their muddy feet. Having the baby gates up helped me to get their paws and fur cleaned up first before they joined the rest of the family in the house.
As I’m sure many of you know baby gates are useful for many safety and practical needs, I think they are almost an essential in any house with young kids or as you can see from our experience even pets. Tell us why you think baby gates are a useful item to have in the home, we’d love to hear from you.
