Powered by Mom Shares her Banana Chocolate Coconut Smoothie Recipe
In my home we do smoothies almost daily sometimes we have them more than once a day. The benefits of smoothies with top quality ingredients makes a huge difference in our health and nutrition. I load my smoothies with ingredients that will benefit my family’s health. We have everything from green smoothies to what I like to call dessert smoothies but no matter which one we’re having there are nutritional benefits to each of them!
This Banana Chocolate Coconut Smoothie is one of my “dessert” smoothies but as you will see there’s nothing bad in this tasty treat!
Now I personally prefer to have my smoothies thicker, more like a milkshake, even thicker than that but my hubby and daughter don’t like them quite as thick so I put in more liquid for them like I did for this particular smoothie.Print
- 1 1/2 cups Chocolate Almond Milk (can use milk, regular almond milk or water)
- 1 scoop of Garden of Life Chocolate Organic Plant Protein
- 1 tsp probiotic powder (optional)
- 2 Tbsp Ground Chia Seeds (can use flaxseed)
- 1 frozen banana (or fresh – if using fresh add ice)
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut
- I put in my protein powder, chia seeds, probiotic powder and shredded coconut first.
- Add the rest of the ingredients and blend to desired smoothness.
- Adjust liquids depending on how thick you prefer your smoothie to be.
- Serves 1 large smoothie
Make sure to use a top quality protein powder, it does make a difference. I’m partial to Garden of Life products as I know they are Certified USDA Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified. They don’t put any crap in their products to put it simply.
I love their new Organic Plant Protein. It is uniquely formulated to have superior taste and texture, ideal for anyone looking for a clean protein supplement that is free of common allergens such as gluten, grains, dairy and soy. It is also highly digestible which many soy proteins aren’t AND it has 3 enzymes and 1 billion CFU of probiotics. This is important for those people who have difficulty digesting grains. It also has 2 African Super Foods – Moringa and Baobab are rich in protein, minerals and antioxidants.
That’s how I load my smoothies full of nutrients to support our immune systems and overall health. Ever since we started drinking smoothies full of great anti-oxidants and other great nutrients we’ve seen a significant reduction in getting colds and flu and an increase in energy. However you can get the nutrients into you and your family I suggest you do what you can, I just personally think a smoothie is a tasty and easy way to get a lot of nutrients at once.
Feel free to share your favorite smoothie recipe we’re always looking for more!
