Like all parents I’ve always encouraged my daughter to aspire to be whatever she wants to be. While her choices have changed from toddler to child to tween on what she wants to be when she grow ups I think it’s great when kids no matter what their age think that they can be anything they want.
I have always found that encouraging learning through play not only brings out the imagination of children but it can also have learning moments and it helps them to envision their future from what they want to eat tomorrow to what they want to be when the grow up. Playing for fun, playing for learning and just playing well just because is always wonderful children.
Say hello to Movie/TV Director Barbie
I always loved listening to my daughter and now my nieces as they played with their Barbies and other toys. They create entire lives that are so detailed it’s simply amazing. They’ve been rocket scientists, veterinarians and even race car drivers and I loved listening to it all! It would also bring about questions on some of these careers which I was more than happy to answer if I could and if I couldn’t we went and looked them up. I think if we just encourage the curiousity, answer their questions or help them to find the answers to their questions it’s one of many ways that we can encourage our children to pursue what they want to be when they grow up 🙂

My daughter is only 4 months old but my sons (7 and 4 years old) know that it is important to try hard at whatever you do and finish whatever you start. But, at the same time, if something is no longer enjoyable it is okay to say that you have had enough of that activity and when it is completed (end of the season/term) you can move on to something else that interests you more. I believe that giving them a chance to find what they enjoy most shows them that they can do anything they set their minds to.

I’ve always encouraged my daughter to self confident and to love herself and those around her.. She is currently in girl guides and I can see how that also is helping to become more self assured and to know that she can do anything that she applies herself to do!
