TWEEN PARTY TIME
Do you have some ideas to share for a tween girls’ birthday parties?
We have some and Powered by Mom readers also shared some wonderful ideas
Read on, add some ideas, take some ideas it’s all about the sharing and having fun at the party
My daughter Sian is turning 11 at the end of September and we’re having her party at our house. for her 10th birthday party we also had it at our house which was the first time ever. In the past we had it at gymnastics places, bowling, play centers anywhere but home. Last year was a success but I was tired and swore I would never do it again LOL and yet here we go again.
Last year we did mini manicures, pedicures and make-up along with some craft time which included a memory board and each girl received a memory book with their name on it, they got to fill in the memories, signed each other’s books and we put in pictures from the party afterwards where each girl had a pic of themselves with the nails and make-up done:)
So I thought I’d share the activities we did last year, what we’ve got so far this year and all the wonderful ideas that you our readers have shared with us on a Facebook post we did today. I couldn’t believe how many of you commented and came up with so many ideas in 1 hour and it seems more are coming! If you want to see that Facebook post GO HERE.
I’m going to add all the ideas here too and of course would love to hear of any more from all of you!
This year though it will only be a maximum of 6 girls including Sian and it will also be a sleepover with all the girls. So we’re trying to come up with ideas of what activities to do at the house to keep them busy until we can tell them to go to bed.
Here’s what we have planned so far:
Pinata time – we have a juke box shaped pinata we’re going to fill with goodies here’s a pic of what it looks like
Hoola Hoop contest – who can hoola the longest for a prize
We’ve got cool gutzy gear prizes – find out more about Gutzy Gear HERE – patches to decorate your backpack straps, in fact you can remove them as they have backpack strap covers very cool. Here are some pics of gutzy gear.
Wii Dance Contest – come up with a dance routine
Pizza & a movie on our big screen TV in our family room hopefully the movie is when we can get them settled for the sleepover portion 🙂
That’s all we have so far but here’s what you are readers have come up with what should choose?
- Jewlery making – make their own necklace of bracelet
- Make your own lip balm
- Decorate pillowcases
- Decorate t-shirts
- Candy bar
- Make your own pizzas
- Spa night (we did this last year)
- Purse making kits
- Karoake
- Bake Cookies
- Treasure Hunt
- Fashion Show
- Bubble Blowing Contest
- Tye dye t-shirts with sharpie markers
- Make their own candles
Do you have any ideas if so comment below or tell us which ones you like the best 🙂
I think it’s going to be a fun party but I have a feeling I’m going to be tired the next day lol

I always thought making a mug or cup with pics of her and her friends would be cool. Something fun and a keepsake too. I’m into all that sentimental stuff. Have tons of fun and wish her a very Happy Birthday!

Oh, i wish I had some ideas like this years ago. My daughters always wanted to do sleepover bday parties, and they would wind up running wild and messing up the house. I did not know what they thought would be fun to do. Just keeping them stocked with food was overwhelming for me.

I really like the Treasure Hunt idea! It’s similar to a scavenger hunt which is ALWAYS a blast and hysterical. I remember we would laugh till our sides hurt so bad!! I would have to make a big effort not to crash any of these tween parties!!!

thanks Meg for the feedback we’re leaning towards adding a Treasure Hunt 🙂

Sorry if this posts twice, The treasure hunt idea is awesome, we did one 30 years ago when I was a child and I still remember it, if you do the tye-dye shirts we use food coloring and bubble wands..you could always put all the (great) ideas on scraps of paper, put them in a hat and let the birthday child choose a few..Good luck and have fun!
Michelle says
Thanks Cindy that’s a good idea too 🙂

Take a close up picture of each guest wearing a T-shirt (theme chosen by the tween) . Also you can purchase a plastic tablecloth and allow them to write on it so your daughter can hang it in her room. As guest arrive, ask them to go to the puter and pick a song to be played from the pandora cache.
Michelle says
Oh wow Maureen another wonderful idea! We’re going to have such a hard time choosing but I really love this one thanks!
Maureen Butcher says
I think that a movie star dress up par-tay could be right up their alley. You request that they choose from a group of stars of your daughters liking. Their guest are asked to participate by bringing clothes that they think may be appropiate for any one character. Upon arrival to your home, an entourage of salon looking professionals assist the guest into their movie transformation. The tweens parents dress up as tv entertainment reporters while the guests are interviewed live @ the Tween Partay of (insert name).
Michelle says
very creative Maureen you have such great ideas! 🙂
Sarah L says
I think that making lip balms is a great project. It shows them that they don’t have to spend lots of money on store bought cosmetics and that they can make them.
Making bath salts is also a fun, easy project.
Michelle says
Thanks SArah much appreciated!
Betsy Rubendall Barnes says
My friend’s daughters birthday was near Christmas, so she had a sleepover and they made ornaments and decorated a Christmas tree. They did this for about 5 years in a row. When the girls graduated high school, my friend gave them all the ornaments they made through the years. 🙂
Michelle says
Wow now that’s really cool Betsy thanks for sharing!
InezbyDesign says
It’s been a few years since I did these parties! One that stands out is a friend of mine, a Mary Kay Consultant, came and did facials. Talked about clean skin etc etc. It was good as girls at this age are all about trying the makeup..but not always so good about the skin 🙂 You have some great ideas lined up and I agree…you Will be tired the next day!
Shannon Byrd says
I like a lot of your ideas. I have a 12 year old daughter who will be 13 next May. These are some great ideas that I know she will definitely love.
Michelle says
so glad you liked them Shannon we were lucky that so many readers contributed! 🙂
Erika E says
Love the mani/pedi idea! The craft ideas are great too. I had an aunt come over during a party and she helped the girls with fun hair styles.
