Powered by Mom wants to share an amazing initiative #BrightWayForward from Tangerine
On March 29, 2015 there was an amazing event held for children aged 8-13 that was run by Tangerine and Canada Basketball as part of their #BrightWayForward campaign. At Tangerine, they’re committed to empowering Canadians – not just by providing them with tools and resources to take control of their finances, but by giving them the confidence and skills they need to take positive action in their own lives.
Part of the March 29th #BrightWayForward event that was held at the Robert Lee YMCA on Burrard (not far from my old stomping grounds as a kid/teenager) was not only to give kids the experience of a hands-on, basketball skills camp but it was also an empowering program to help build confidence and life skills. I think we can all agree it’s vital to build and encourage at all time self-confidence in kids of all ages. This was an amazing event that went from 9:00am to the early afternoon and there was a fantastic turn out!
Look at this sea of orange!
Parents and kids who participated were all impressed with this event. The kids had fun doing various activities from painting to of course basketball, there were special presentations for them too as you can see from the picture above. Parents were impressed with not only how the kids were having fun but they were indeed learning life skills, feeling empowered and helping each other too!
Some quotes from parents who were at the #BrightWayForward event:
Amazing empowerment msges from unitycharity at
#BrightWayForward and fun too!
Amazing! we had the best time today at Vancouver launch! engaging, inspiring and empowering!
Great event and great mix to reach kids and get them empowered!
Everywhere you looked the kids were excited, laughing, having fun, they were engaged and enthralled with everything they saw, were doing and even when it came time to listen. The folks at Tangerine know how to put on an event!
So why is Tangerine doing the #BrightWayForward event?
They believe that building up confident, optimistic individuals will help form the backbone of strong communities. That’s why they’re partnering with organizations and supporting initiatives that encourage self-esteem, leadership, belonging and acceptance – things we all need to create a bright way forward for ourselves and others.
