Business Facebook Pages a Must Have?

Do you think every business should have a Facebook page?

In today's social media dominant world I would have to say a big YES that every business should have a Facebook page if they don't want to be left behind. Social media venues such as Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter are a part of the social scene and have become must haves (in particular Facebook) for not only personal reasons but businesses as well.

People of all ages interact socially via Facebook and many like myself now go to see if a company has a Facebook page to be informed of current specials, upcoming product releases and so much more. I think people would even be surprised if they couldn't find a Facebook page for a business. In fact I personally have found that if I want to contact a company that leaving a message on their Facebook page will often times get a quicker response than if I go through their website, sometimes even quicker than calling!

So have I convinced everyone yet that a business Facebook page is a necessity? Great so now what? Well, when a business does finally make the decision to join the millions of others on Facebook they need to make sure their page reflects their brand and is professional yet approachable which is not always easy to do. It's why many businesses will hire someone for their business Facebook page design which is an excellent idea. Let someone who is an experienced designer create some options for the business. They can get a feel for their overall look, feedback from the business on what they'd like to see and use their experience and creativity to come up with an appropriate Facebook design.

In today's digital world where so many socially interact online, shop online, research online well you get the idea it's an online world and a business can not afford to not be present on one of the biggest social media sites out there. What other social media sites do you think a company MUST have a presence on? Comment and let us know we'd love to hear about it!

  1. I'm not sure every business should have a Facebook page, but it's a real good idea to have one with the technology today. So many people have a Facebook page and the businesses may reach folks who otherwise may never had heard of them. It is to their own best interest to have and maintain a page on Facebook!

  2. Thanks for this post. I have several small (very small) businesses, but had already decided that one of the ways to build them bigger would be facebook pages.

  3. I totally agree. Every business in this day and time should have a facebook page . I'm sure that those who do should benefit by having more business.

  4. I would have to agree with you that any business should have a facebook page. As you may already know, I have a small business that has a facebook page. I have not done much with it for some time now, but I have found that if I take the time to advertise and promote my items, it generally brings a decent response. Besides facebook, Twitter is also a good place to promote business, although personally, I don't use it much for anything other than contest entries!

  5. I'll have to agree with you that facebook makes it easier to contact a company. For me the response time is much faster when I go through facebook.

  6. I think its a great way to give yourself free advertising and publicity. I think it gets your name and brand out there and helps you build relationships with your fans.

  7. As a former social media manager for a company that had no Facebook (or any social presence for that matter). I gre there social interaction with customers in over 2 months to over 17,000. We started as a small local company into a well known company that could be trusted because we were always on literally 24/7. I think companies that do that will receive more favorable reviews because that way you can always reach out and touch someone.

  8. Do I think it is a must? No... I think there are plenty of businesses...small businesses that run by word of mouth. Do I think it could bring in more business? Sure! The problem is... a Facebook page doesn't tell you if it is a good company or not. It is just another marketing tool and I think marketing is always a great idea.

  9. I totally agree with you that a business should hire someone to do their facebook page and update it. I see so many businesses that open one and never update it, it looks bad. its as if you are going into an empty restaurant it makes you wonder why they are not busy. I think it's a great way for them to be closer to their customers but it definitely needs to be done right.

  10. I am not that fond of Facebook so I do not often visit business Facebook pages. I work in media and have to work on clients' Facebook pages but I often times do not think they get the response they are hoping for through this medium. I would rather see a well-updated and easy-to-navigate website than a Facebook page. It is all personal preference, of course, since I know some love Facebook!

  12. I always look up companies on facebook. the promotions are fantastic. Our local mall had an e-mail address and I signed up for special promos...They advertised a fashion show at the beginning of the school year with a contest. I entered the contest and won a $500 gift card. If it wasn't for facebook I would never have entered.

  13. I agree that they all should have one. I always check the business page before I make a purchase looking for coupons. I like to see what other people are saying on their wall as well. If they are saying positive things it makes me more likely to use their service or buy their products. I also love it when they have giveaways.

  15. I agree with you that in today's digital world, if a business wants to keep up with the needs and wants of its customers, a Facebook page, at the very least, is needed. There are a lot of small businesses out there that could really benefit from a Facebook page and a basic website. Have those two things and make sure they are kept up to date, and you have the start of a recipe for success. There have been quite a few local business that I have tried to look up online, yet the only reference that comes up with a search, is a white/yellow pages ad, and most of the time there isn't even a phone number attached. Sometimes there is a basic website, but no real information like hours open, etc. Right now, I am a non-driver so it is important that when I am able to have a ride somewhere, that I not waste anyone's time or gas money to go somewhere that doesn't have what I need or want. Businesses with social media pages and websites help me save time and take care of MY business. 🙂

  16. Yes, I completely agree that a business should have a facebook page. I am currently looking for a job. I find that many companies offer the option of creating site accounts by logging in with your own facebook page. Facebook pages are set up to hold every piece of information you could want to show and give. Companies need to keep up with the times by having the fb page. I love the creativity and interaction that goes into many sites I visit.

  17. I absolutely think businesss should have a FB page, and other social media links/pages. I have found so many wonderful and useful companies through FB, sometimes from ads and mostly through giveaways that led me to them and I became a customer. There is so much networking and promoting you can do via FB and it's cheaper and you can reach a much larger group of people.

  18. Yup, I tottally agree. I like companies on facebook because of the same reason what you said- You get special deals, promotions, etc. I am more likely to buy something from them if they have a facebook page just because they posted a deal.

  19. Funny I should run into this article today. Earlier I heard of a sale going on at a popular local store called The Boot Box. I went right to their fb page to see the details and check for coupons. While they did have a fb page, it was not very active and had little info...and no coupons 🙁 They also had a link to their site that was even less informative than their fb page. They are a fantastic place to shop but I think they are missing out on a huge market by not being online.
