I think candles are always a wonderful gift to give and be given too as there are such a wide variety of candles that you're bound to find something for everyone! There are scented candles, tapered candles, jar candles, small and big candles, character candles, unscented well you get the idea. Candles are not just for women either as more men than you might think would enjoy a candle as well. For example my husband likes candles that have fruit scents for his office as they energize him when he's invoicing and doing all the computer related side of his work that he does not enjoy!

You can give candles as a gift by themselves or in a gift basket or even as a practical gift. One idea that I like for what I call a practical kit is to do up an emergency preparedness basket/package for people for which you would include candles of course. In fact I have done that I found some great candles in long slender jars so if the power goes out (which it did to us recently) we can carry these candles in a jar with us without having to worry about was dripping everywhere.

I personally love scented soy wax candles but I also like candles at have a design to them they can be beautiful to funny and more. For example wouldn't this beautiful red, white and blue candle be a wonderful hostess gift at a July 4th party?

  1. I love giving candles as gifts.. There are 2 kind of candles though. I always give a box of prepper candles, living in Tornado Alley you need the long lasting kind for times you are without power, makes a wonderful house-warming gift.

  10. This is a really nice candle to have for the 4th! The colors are so pretty, but I would hate to burn it. I have a lot of beautiful candles in my house that I will not burn. Maybe someday, but candles really make a house look nice!

  13. I'd never actually thought about it - but you are right : when in doubt - Candles make a great gift for just about any / ev eryone. And there really is something for everyone when it comes to the vast variety and selection you can choose from.

From a strictly practical standpoint, I always keep lots of candles (safely in jars around in the event of a power failures which often happens in Summer when everyone has their a/c and fans on - and lately with all the (scary) weather patterns around here we've been having more and more electrical storms causing power outages that sometimes last a long time!

We also have those insect repellents for the yard and front porch - and they seem to at least help - and look pretty as the sun goes down... And when it comes to scented candles - well in my experience they are hands down superior to the cloying scents of socalled "air fresheners" - plus they add ambiance and atmosphere.

  14. Candle's are one of those gifts that can never go wrong! Most people think its chocolate but really, I have yet to meet someone who doesn't like candles while I know many who are wary of eating chocolate for whatever reason.
My favorite candles are the decorative candles but they are pretty pricey!! The designs on those are fantastic though.. and they stay lit for a long time and are really safe!!

  29. I love candles. It's good to have a few different types around to suit your mood, much like perfume. I find that in candles, I like the fresh, outdoorsy scents - thinks like Mountain Mist, Clean Cotton, Forest, etc. It's so uplifting to have that fresh scent indoors! Of course, sometimes, I'm in a jasmine mood, or and Angel Food Cake mood, or a Champagne and Strawberries mood, or a a Vanilla mood..........yes, I love candles!!!
