Clean Labels, Pet Tech & Products Help with Caring for our Pets
If you love animals like we do then you know that caring for our pets is as important to animal lovers as it is caring for any other member of our family. We want them to be as healthy and as happy as possible which means their care is multi-faceted. From ensuring they have regular visits to the veterinarian’s office to getting the type of exercise they need and much more.
Say hello to Little Zeus aka LZ.
Global Pet Expo Trends 2017
Fortunately the trends are leaning towards better choices, products and ideas to help us keep our pets happy and healthy. Some of the trends that came out of this years Global Pet Expo are:
Limited Ingredient Diets: When we think of caring for our pets, their diet is a big part of that. With the incidence of food sensitivities on the rise amongst dogs and cats, pet owners are looking for limited ingredient diets which can greatly reduce the chance of food sensitivity. GO! by Petcurean, is a complete, nutrient-packed food with zero added growth hormones, by-products, or artificial preservatives, offering a single source of meat protein with as few ingredients as possible to meet the nutritional requirements of dogs and cats. All three of our beloved pets (two dogs, one cat) are on a Go! by Petcurean diet, they seem to thrive on it, even our senior girl Luna below.
Pet Tech: Caring for our pets also means consistent physical activity that is suitable to their age and physical capabilities. Enter “pet tech”. If you aren’t familiar with the term “pet tech,” expect that to change. This year at Global Pet Expo there were a growing number of pet products that integrate technology in a variety of ways including activity trackers and video monitors and interactive toys. We got an activity tracker for our senior girl Luna last year which you can see on her above. We felt it was important because she’s a senior and it’s a bit more challenging to keep her active. She still loves to play and her favourite exercise to use her paw to play with her favourite ball and roll it back to us.
Transparency & Clean labels: As we’ve mentioned caring for our pets includes giving them quality food and limited ingredient diets. This goes hand in hand with transparency and clean labels. People want and can now expect to see an increase in products with fewer ingredients, less preservatives, and certifications in the years to come.
Pet Cooling Products: Summer is coming and soon and with it there are some great products out there so that caring for our pets in the summer is even easier. There pet cooling mats, apparel, and bedding products that were showcased at the Pet Expo this year, all designed to keep your pet cool during the hot summer months. We all know that our dogs need help with keeping cool and now it’s even easier.
Those are just some of the trends and we think they are all positive ones that we hope will become the standard to help us keep our furry family happy for the long term.
