I have a confession to make. My family and are addicted to Cirque du Soleil shows. From attending the shows under the big tent here in Vancouver or even at the Pacific Coliseum to seeing the ones in Las Vegas, we have yet to be disappointed. Every Cirque du Soleil show is unique from the others, they're all visually stunning, jaw-dropping and make for a fantastic time out for the family.

The most recent show to Vancouver is their Kurios – Cabinet of Curiosities is Cirque du Soleil's 35th production! Vancouver is the last stop in North America for this amazing show before they head to Japan. Don't fret though fellow Vancouverites hit's here until December 31st so you still have lots of time to enjoy this fabulous show. Although tickets do seem to sell out fast so don't waste a moment, treat your family this holiday season and go to this show.

If you've never been to a Cirque du Soleil show or are unsure whether you want to see this one I think by the time you finish our Cirque du Soleil Kurios Review of Cabinet of Curiosities you will want to go. I can't imagine anyone not wanting to see this amazing show. It truly captivates, amazes and leaves you wanting to see it again! It's a show the whole family will enjoy and seeing it under the big top is truly a fun experience.

Even though it was raining we are all still excited to go and see Cirque du Soleil's Kurios - Cabinet of Curiosities

An advantage to seeing Cirque du Soleil's Kurios - Cabinet of Curiosities under the tent is that it's not a huge venue like a stadium. You're never miles away as there isn't more than about 30 rows or so but you get the idea, far less than in a stadium or large theatre.

What's it all about?

Step into the curio cabinet of an ambitious inventor who defies the laws of time, space and dimension in order to reinvent everything around him. Suddenly, the visible becomes invisible, perspectives are transformed, and the world is literally turned upside down. Reality is all relative.

I'd be hard-pressed to select only one act that we loved but if I absolutely must choose a favourite it would be the contortion act. The wriggling artists execute a series of incredible pyramids and figures at an astonishing pace using the Mechanical Hand as a platform. I did not know the human body could move that way. Every time they did a new pose my jaw kept dropping closer and closer to the floor.

Oh but wait there was also the Acro Net where the performers bounced and rebounded off of a net like trampoline. They went so high I thought they were going to hit the lights on the ceiling.

How could I forget though about Rola Bola. The fearless aviator who balances on these tiny platforms and keeps adding levels to it, a blaa then a small plank and it went on and on. We could not take our eyes off of him and I know I heard a few gasps (some from myself) when he balanced on more and more levels.

Ah see I told you I couldn't choose just one favourite as it's all so much fun to watch. I also love that throughout parts of the show the performers go into the audience where you really get a chance to see them up close and personal. This is a common theme in Cirque do Soleil shows.

  5. I live in Orlando, Florida and we had a Cirque de Soliel show at a theater at Disney for many years. Cirque de Soliel beats any show I have ever seen. The talent and skill is just incredible. I would love to see any of their performances if I travel to a place that has it.

  13. When we first went to Las Vegas years ago, we only went for 3 days and believe me, it was not enough time to do all that we wanted to. So the next time we went, we went with three other couples & had more time. This time we all went to a Cirque du Soleil show. It was one of the most spectacular shows any of us have ever seen at that time! What was so weird was, there was one of these shows playing in Chicago, but it took us a trip to Vegas to actually watch one!! They truly are absolutely amazing and we all talked about it years later when we talk about our Vegas venture.

  17. The Cirque shows I have seen were all borderline inappropriate to take kids IMO. However, it has been well over a decade since I have been able to go; three kids now! I have been wondering about taking them because, I follow the reviews, and it seems that they have gone more family friendly as this one has. Thanks, solidifying me taking my kids.
