Another fabulous review from Powered by Mom reviewer Victoria.
Mail subscriptions have been booming for the past few years with the best monthly bundles on everything from food to toys. Many of the services I have checked into are pricey… very pricey. While I don’t normally comment on prices within my review, I thought it was best to mention Citrus Lane offer’s their subscription service at an affordable price for those who want to enjoy the monthly mail delivery without a high cost.
We recently received a winter themed Citrus Lane box for our eighteen month old daughter. She really enjoyed her Melissa & Doug wooden puzzle and her board book. Both kept her well entertained for over thirty minutes so I could accomplish some mommy chores.
Another great addition to this package was Babytime by Episencial’s Snuggly Lotion. This is the best smelling organic, vegan, & gluten free lotion I have ever smelled! Normally, lotions of this nature are packed full of citrus products that make my skin sting, this one did not. It isn’t too thick, oily, or sticky – it is quite possibly one of the best organic lotions we have tried.
Also included in the package was a Babyprints Ornament kit from Pearhead. Unlike traditional hand-print kits, this one doesn’t require any mixing. Just knead the material for one minute, roll it out, wet hand, press, and air-dry! You don’t even have to bake it! (I must confess that we haven’t used our ornament kit since we are several months out from Christmas. I have thought of the several ways I could use it for other projects, like Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, but I haven’t sat down with the wee one and completed it yet. We have confirmed that regular customers will not receive post-holiday products in their subscriptions.)
I completed a little research online to see if I could nail down the prices of everything included if purchased separately. The approximate prices are as follows: Snuggly Lotion retails $6, Babyprints is $13, Melissa & Doug puzzle is $7, and the board book is $6. The total value of my box was $31 without including shipping costs. The most expensive, one time, subscription to Citrus Lane is $29 + Free Shipping. The least expensive option for this service is $19 for a pre-paid one year subscription with free shipping. Regardless of the option selected, it is still less expensive than purchasing these items on your own.
Would I Subscribe?
I believe I would use this service for a toddler or pre-schooler because they love to receive special gifts in the mail. Being a frugal family spender, I would only use this service by paying for a yearly subscription instead. Anytime I can save a substantial amount of money by paying in advance – I do!
I would give the baby subscription as a baby shower gift because it is a gift that will keep giving for an entire year- that’s pretty amazing and memorable to the recipient.

This was a really cute box. I like that it is geared for the age group. The price isn’t bad either. We have tried many subscription services and your right a lot of them are a bit pricey especially when you have multiple kids. I might give Citrus Lane a try for the new baby on the way.
