It’s a smoothie that tastes like dessert – Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
I love my smoothies and because I do have smoothies almost every day I’ve had to come up with different flavors because who wants the same thing day after day. Well let me tell you that doing a smoothie with dark chocolate was in my opinion a great idea, I do love dark chocolate a lot and it has many nutritional benefits too so that’s just a bonus.
Seriously I love this smoothie, it’s so yummy and yet there’s not a single bad thing for you in it so what’s not to love. You’ve got Greek yogurt, cocoa powder, almond milk, bananas and more it’s just full of goodness to create a delicious smoothie. I could have this smoothie over a milkshake any day. In fact if you use frozen bananas (I freeze bananas that are going brown) you’ll get that milkshake cold thickness. Enough about how much I enjoy this smoothie let’s get unto the recipe shall we?

- 1/2 cup almond milk
Instructions
- Add all of the ingredients to a blender.
- Blend on high until the smoothie is smooth and creamy.
- Stop every 15 to 20 seconds and scrape down the sides.
- Taste the smoothie and adjust the sweetness to your liking. We added a little honey to ours!
- Enjoy right away or store in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
Notes
If you like a more chocolatey flavor, feel free to add more cocoa or dark chocolate.
This smoothie is so decadent that you’ll forget it’s healthy! The combination of cocoa and a little dark chocolate give this a deep chocolate flavor. And who doesn’t love peanut butter with chocolate!
The frozen banana helps make this nice and thick without having to use ice which can water it down.
Since peanut butter and Greek yogurt are both high in protein, this keep you feeling fuller longer!
There you have it a delicious smoothie that is packed full of nutritional goodness but it all tastes so good! What could be easier than making a smoothie? They may be easy to make but that doesn’t mean they can’t taste delicious and our Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie tastes so so good. I am biased though since everything in it are ingredients I love.

I would like to try this but I’m not a big fan of dark chocolate. Perhaps I could put in less cocoa and one and a half banana to help sweeten it up.

I do smoothies all the time too and I’ve done one similar to yours…I use peanut butter powder (PB2) instead of peanut butter to make it even a little healthier (because it’s defatted) and I add some ice to make it really cold. Sometimes I add vanilla whey protein powder. It is SO good, I could drink it every day too.

What a great idea to freeze over-ripe bananas. They’re often in the ‘reduced price’ section in the supermarket and I usually buy them to feed the birds or to make banana bread.
