Powered by Mom and daughter are going to We Day Vancouver!
We couldn’t be more excited about the fact that we are going to We Day here in our home city of Vancouver! It’s not an event you can buy tickets too as it’s simply not that kind of event. Sure there are celebrities at this event but it’s not about them either. If you don’t know what We Day is about then you want to read on, find out more about how you and your children or children you know can be involved in this amazing movement all year long! It happens across Canada and the United States.
So what is We Day and more specifically the We Act about? It’s about kids helping kids, locally, nationally and globally!
We Act is an educational program that empowers young people to become active local, national and global citizens. We Act is more than curriculum, more than educational resources and action campaigns; it’s a movement of students and educators who believe that some of the most powerful learning experiences happen when you make a meaningful difference in your communities and for the world.
By taking at least one local and one global action, We Act helps students gain diverse skills and perspectives that challenge apathy and encourage active citizenship.
We Day and We Act
Locally active, globally aware.
We Day is the movement of our time, empowering a generation of young global citizens through an inspirational event and a year-long educational initiative called We Act, which offers curricular resources, campaigns and materials to help turn the day’s inspiration into sustained activation.
We Act is the blueprint for young people to take action as agents of social change.
Why? Because we believe that we are the first generation that can truly end the worst forms of poverty, embrace we thinking and we acting and remove the barriers to youth being agents of social change. And there’s no time to waste: every single day we have the opportunity to make this world a better place. And everyone has a role to play.
How are we doing this? By pushing forward the boundaries of charity and creating change. It’s a worldwide movement that proves anyone can change the world—and revolutionizes how we make We Day brings young people together to celebrate the actions that they are taking in their local and global communities and to inspire another year of change by sharing the passion of world leaders and entertainers. We Day is tied to the year-long We Act program, which offers educational resources, campaigns and support materials to help turn the event’s inspiration into sustained action. Through We Act, students commit to taking one local and one global action to better the world, earning their way to We Day. This October, the Rogers Arena will be filled with 20,000 educators and youth for We Day Vancouver.
I hope that if you don’t already know about the We Act that by sharing this information with you that it’s gotten you excited about it. I know that the more I learn the more I’m excited and I can’t wait to see what my daughter thinks of it. I hope it gets her inspired to become more involved. She will be writing about her experience at We Day so make sure to come back and read what she has to say about We Day Vancouver!

Oh, you crazy Canadians! Always doing things that are socially responsible like this cool event and providing healthcare to your citizens. LOL. I only wish I could go because I’ve loved Avril Lavigne since her first hit song. Anyone old enough to remember Sk8er Boi? Looks like this will be a great time with a great purpose and message.

I had never heard of this and I am so glad you took the time to write about it. I am looking forward to reading about your daughter’s reactions to the event. It seems to be a fabulous idea. Teaching a child to be involved in helping others is such a good foundation to make a productive, caring, well-balanced adult. I love the concept of doing it locally, nationally and globally. It makes a child aware of the difference needs in different places and helps them really understand why they are volunteering to work towards a better world for all. I am going to check into this more and so glad I read this blog today.

This makes me happy. I wish that it was more advertised. So much bad in our world that always gets the headlines. Sometimes doesn’t feel like there is much good left in the world, and then I see things like this. Love it!!

That is so totally cool! My daughter is five, and I would love to find a way for our family to make a difference together. I think it’s wonderful when kids get involved. It’s a great way to let them see that everything is not all about them, and is so important to teach them to think of others and help out in a way that they can.
