Powered by Mom’s Disney’s MOANA Movie Review
We recently received MOANA on blu-ray to review the movie. My family and I couldn’t be more delighted as this is one we wanted to see but just didn’t get a chance to see it in theatres. Now we can watch it whenever we want, it’s such a wonderful movie for the whole family to watch.
It’s an engaging movie with an empowering story line that also pays tribute to Polynesian culture. It’s another example of why Disney is just so amazing at creating magical, animated movies with feel-good music, endearing characters and it leaves you well just feeling good by the end of the movie. It’s truly a delight to watch.
Those who aren’t into the whole “princess” thing will love this movie any more. There’s no romance, no prince charming etc.. It’s a story that will empower girls (and boys) alike as Moana is her island’s next Chief, there’s no question of her being chief just because she’s a female, refreshing. Moana is played by teen Hawaiian singer Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson (aka “The Rock”) is the other main character if you will. They have a mentor and pupil relationship and it shines though the movie.
Of course it wouldn’t be a fun Disney animated movie without a couple of sidekicks which you find in the rooster Heihei and a few more fun characters but I’m not going to spoil it for those of you who haven’t seen this movie yet. The music really makes this movie and it’s no wonder when you have Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of Hamilton producing the music.
If you’re looking for a movie that has that whole feel good feeling and is not a princess romance type of tale Moana is for you. It’s definitely a movie the whole family can enjoy and I think the characters will inspire boys and girls alike. If you’re looking to own a copy you can snag it on Amazon HERE.
