Powered by Mom says Drive Phone Free #TakeBackMyDrive
Don’t take the risk, put your phone away when driving and just drive phone free.
We all know that it’s become a major safety issue, people looking at their phones while driving. Even taking a second to glance at our phones can become a major safety issue. It only takes a second of being distracted to cause an accident that could have dire consequences. In light of the fact that April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month we sharing an initiative that we wholeheartedly stand behind and that’s #TakeBackMyDrive.
We want to encourage people to join the pledge:
I pledge to Take Back My Drive for my own safety and for others with whom I share the roads. I choose to not drive distracted in any way – I will not:
- Have a phone conversation – handheld, hands-free, or via Bluetooth
- Text or send Snapchats
- Use voice-to-text features in my vehicle’s dashboard system
- Update Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vimeo, Vine or other social media
- Check or send emails
- Take selfies or film videos
- Input destinations into GPS (while the vehicle is in motion)
- Call or message someone else when I know they are driving
Research is showing that voice-activated technologies may be distracting, this means they are not a good alternative to using a cell phone while driving. I can personally say that I’ve never been in the habit of using my cell phone while driving. I very rarely have used even a hands free unit, for the most part my family knows not to call me if I say I’ll be on the road. If they do call and it’s urgent they leave me a message and if I hear that beep I pull over safely when I can to check the message. I’ve just always been the type of driver who doesn’t like distractions so I never got in the habit of answering my phone while driving, now I’m even happier that it’s already my habit to do so, make it yours too.
Get materials HERE to share with friends and family to encourage them to just #TakeBackMyDrive and not have that cell phone out while driving. Attend the FREE webinar on Wednesday April t at 11am CST so everyone can learn more on why they should drive phone free. Share the link to the webinar with everyone and encourage them to take the pledge for their safety and the safety of everyone on the road. After all there our safety is more important than any text or phone call, we managed to survive without them before, we’ll survive without them now while driving, no message or call is worth anyone’s safety.
We hope you’ll join us at the webinar and take the pledge. Here’s to safe driving for everyone.
