I was lucky enough to have a Target open near where I live. It’s nice and close less than a 10 minute drive and it happens to be in the same area where I bank, buy groceries and more! I’ve been going to Target more and more so on my last trip there when the helpful team member asked me if I wanted to sign up for the REDCard and save at least 5% that day it was like a light bulb went off over my head. Uh duh why don’t I get their debit card so I can save 5% on stuff I’m going to get at Target anyway?
So we went to one of their stations and the team member pulled up the application for me, filled in the usual information, a few clicks later and I was done. It really was that easy, you just need to know your chequing account information as you use your existing account. That’s right you don’t need a new bank account, you use what you already have and can start saving 5% on almost every purchase at Target. I like it when I can see an immediate reward like a savings off my bill, no waiting, no having to get so many points in order to save. You just save right then and there and for me that’s rewarding in itself, after all like most people we have a budget to deal with so it’s nice to save wherever we can.
However I have to admit I am tempted to look into the Target REDCard RBC MasterCard option. Not only do you save that 5% on your purchases at Target but you can also earn rewards for purchases you make that aren’t at Target. For example you can use this Target REDCard MasterCard to buy gas, go to the movies, get your morning latte or anywhere they accept MasterCard. Then you let the rewards build up and when the time is right you can redeem your points for a Target Gift Card and get mama a new handbag or anything else you might have your eye on at Target.
I’ve been scoping out a certain bedding set and cute pair of shoes at Target so I may just have to go and apply for that Target REDCard MasterCard now.
