Powered by Mom Blog had the privilege of reviewing not one but two different types of safes from Sentry Safe.
- Fire-Safe HD4100 – protection against fire, theft and flood damage
- Big Bolts –SFW123CS – for home security if your area is evacuated and you have to go to a shelter (also protects against fire, theft and flood damage)
This first review and giveaway is for the Fire-Safe HD4100. We will be publishing the review and giveaway for the Big Bolts safe after this one so make sure to watch out for it!
The Fire Safe HD4100 is perfect for keeping important documents, jewelry and other small items safe from fire, theft and flood damage. To prove how well it can protect your valuables check out this water test on the video below that the folks at Sentry Safe did for this exact model!
Powered by Mom’s Review
The Fire-Safe HD4100 is a good size to tuck into a closet or hide almost anywhere (except under the bed it’s too tall for that) so that you can keep important documents close at hand but protected in case of a fire. we‘ve put our passports, birth certificates, my wedding rings and a few other pieces of jewelry that I wear either daily or weekly. I like it because it’s not too big or heavy. I can pick it up using both arms as it’s not super light you do have to be careful but at least I can move it around and take it out of a closet if I need to.
This isn’t the safe if you don’t want potential burglars to take off with your valuables as they could easily carry it out of your house. However, as mentioned it is perfect to protect your important documents and any other small pieces of valuables like jewelry safe during a possible fire, flooding and other types of disasters. I was amazed in the video above at how it held up under water how cool is that?!
In the picture above are our passports and a legal size filing folder which is too big for the safe however letter size file folders fit it perfectly. I just wanted to show you how wide it was so you could see what can and can and can not fit in it. This safe uses a key to unlock it, it comes with 2 keys so we’ve made sure that we’ve put the keys in two different spots that we will remember where they are but also that they’re not easily found by someone else. This way as well if anything happens we wouldn’t lose both keys which is why we put them in two different places. This safe is easy to use and to move around and I’m simply amazed a the various videos I’ve watched on the different types of testing that it has been put through.
Sentry Safe has a fantastic page on their website for Disaster Preparedness and where you can find links to the various videos like the one in this post showing you that these safes are well-made. They also have lists you can print to create your own disaster preparedness kit and more. Check out this excellent page HERE.
I can’t believe that even though my husband installs other types of security measures and devices that we had not until now protected our own valuables. I know of families who have been devastated by house fires and while that’s hard enough to go through and you can’t protect everything at least with the Fire-Safe HD4100 we can protect our important documents, my jewelry and other irreplaceable mementos, it’s well worth it. I’m happy that we are better prepared now if anything should ever happen.
Here are the features of this wonderful safe:
