Giving kids the inspiration, motivation and opportunity to stay active and eat right has never been more relevant than it is today. Less than one percent of kids are getting the daily recommended amount of whole grains in their diets.2 As part of its mission to fuel healthy families, The Quaker Oats Company, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, Inc., partnered with Fuel Up to Play 60, the nation’s largest in-school wellness program, for the Make Your Move Video Contest and is donating a total of $125,000 to support getting kids moving and inspiring healthy habits in schools.

On Wednesday, February 26, 2014, Andrew Luck, Colts Quarterback hosted a surprise, celebratory event for one of the lucky grand-prize winning schools – Mission Middle School in San Diego, California. Local NFL defensive end Kendall Reyes joined Andrew at the event to celebrate with students.

“I believe in the difference smart food choices and regular physical activity can make in kids’ lives, and was thrilled to partner with Quaker and serve as a judge for the Make Your Move Video Contest,” said Luck. “I have been so inspired by the students’ creativity and passion for making changes to lead healthy and active lifestyles. I’m honored to help present the grant to Mission Middle School and check out their moves – maybe I’ll even learn something for my next touchdown dance.”

I’m Michelle aka Powered by Mom. I’m married with one daughter, my hubby was my high school sweetheart, our two dogs Nyx and Cleo and our cat Oliver. As you can see we’re a family of animal lovers.     I walk a mile a day at least and sometimes 3 miles a day with my son. Also try to eat a variety of foods with lots of veggies and fruit, thanks!

    I don’t get enough exercise, but I do try to walk daily. Also, I try to eat foods that are as close to their nature state as possible.

    To get extra exercise I usually park towards the back of parking lots so I have to walk farther. To make sure we are as healthy as we can be we eat a wide variety of vegetables and try to stay away from sugar.

    I am not able to go to the park as much so I bought a treadmill. I started eating raw veggies for snacks and simply more all natural food.

    My girls and I volunteer in the therapy pool with the handicapped kids a couple times per week. When we are not swimming we like to make healthy snacks like oatmeal cookies and fresh fruit kabobs.

    Hubby and I seldom go out to eat, so we do eat pretty well at home. We also walk the dog, park at the back of parking lots and always take the stairs! Thanks 🙂

    I try to eat breakfast every day prior to 9 am, that way I don’t want to snack all day, I love getting outside and walking, while it is cold, icy and snowy I have been walking in the house, best I can do and drink a lot of water.

    I try to walk down to my mailbox several times a week (1/4 mile one way) and I also try to either do Yoga or the Total Gym we have several times a week; but my main form of exercise includes chasing my 3 sons down for baths/showers and/or meal times!

Happy #Easter everyone. Hubby & I went camping and Happy #Easter everyone. Hubby & I went camping and just got back. We took both of our dogs with us and we think we broke them 😆 #CleoTheDog & #NyxTheDog were both soooo tired by around 8:30pm each night that they would go to our trailer door & look at ys waiting to be let in 😁 while we continued to enjoy our campfire 🔥It was great to unplug there is no cell service let alone internet where we go so we enjoyed the beautiful scenery. We are lucky to live in #BeautifulBC.
