Garden of Life Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil Review

Garden of Life’s Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is USDA certified organic AND non-GMO verified!

Garden of Life’s Organic Coconut Oil is not only the best when it comes to quality but it smells amazing and tastes even better! It’s what I use when I cook with anything that requires an oil and now it’s a part of my bulletproof coffee. What’s that you ask? Read on to find out more!

I am a big fan of using coconut oil when I cook and bake and I’m just as big of a fan of Garden of Life products. I’m not sure how I missed before t that Garden of Life carried coconut oil. Naturally it makes sense now that I think about it that Garden of Life would have an extra virgin USDA Organic and Non-GMO verified coconut oil as they are the leaders when it comes  to top quality health products.

Garden of Life sent me this jar of Coconut Oil to review

coconut oil 2

I discovered when I attended in May their Garden of Life Blogger Summit (read more on that HERE) that they had coconut oil and would also be releasing a Dr. Perlmutter formulated line of probiotics, enzymes and more. As I said they are the leader in the health industry and my number one choice for probitiocs, protein powder, supplements and now coconut oil too! So naturally I had to try their coconut oil and let me tell you I was not disappointed!

It smells good, it tastes good and it’s now my favorite coconut oil ever. I was also inspired to try it in a way I’ve never tried it before thanks to another lovely blogger that I me at the Garden of Life Blogger Summit and now call friend. Her name is Jesica Salyer and she has an amazing site called Run on Organics. Now this gal is healthy, fit and inspiring, seriously she’s inspiring and very nice too.

She inspired me to try making and drinking bulletproof coffee. In fact you can read her post on the benefits of Bulletproof coffee HERE, the very post that inspired me to start drinking it and now I have been for two solid weeks and love it! Look up bulletproof coffee and you can find out more as I’m not going to get into all the useful but lengthy facts. Here’s just a few good points that I learned from Jes:

  • Improves your mental clarity (um I need this one big time! Busy mom in her ahem early 40s now)
  • Omega-3 fatty acids like the one in coconut oil helps to reduce inflammation (I have noticed a subtle difference so with my Rheumatoid Arthritis)
  • Slows the absorption of caffeine and the fats and gives you sustained energy not just a boost and then crash
garden of life coconut oil bulletproof coffee

My Bulletproof coffee ingredients, sorry the butter is not in the picture but it was in the coffee

There’s more but those were the ones that stood out for me. Now onto the Bulletproof coffee here’s what I used:

  • 1 Tbsp Garden of Life Coconut Oil
  • 1 Tbsp Grass-fed butter
  • 1 Cup of Coffee (go organic people) I used Marley Coffee
  • 1 Tsp Cocao this was my own addition as I love it in my coffee and it has it’s own benefits.

coffee

Now I’m not quite ready to go without a sweetener, I wish but I’m getting there so I added a teaspoon of organic coconut sugar, I love it and hey coconut sugar and coconut oil heck yeah. Plus coconut sugar is lower on the Glycemic Index. I also use some chocolate almond milk as I I work my way to black coffee.

This all equalled a coffee that smelled amazing, seriously when I was stirring it, it smelled soooo good and tasted just a good who knew? Well I do now thanks to Jes!

Yes you can see the oil at top but stir, drink and enjoy you will be surprised how good it tastes and it’s better for you then regular ole coffee!

bulletproof coffee

There you have it another way to use coconut oil to keep you on the path to healthier eating, if you’re so inclined try out the Garden of Life Coconut Oil you won’t be disappointed!

I also didn’t realize Garden of Life had a coconut oil but I need to try it! I’ve heard about using coconut oil in coffee and I’ve yet to try it. Coconut oil tastes much better as a flavour in things than on it’s own, in my opinion, and adding it to coffee or smoothies is a great way to receive it’s benefits 🙂

Coconut has some medicinal purposes such as your vision it will help you see better. Great to put on your hair and use by heating the coconut oil till warm to touch for 20-30 minutes(I use a shower cap) my friend uses Saran Wrap, then shampoo and regular conditioner. Leaves soft and shiny. Good for making drinks, like a Pinna Colada shake w/French Vanilla ice cream. Really good for your skin and your insides. If I am not wrong it help with the Toxins we have.

I started drinking it occasionally a couple of months ago because I’m a homeschooling mom and can’t seem to get through my day without passing out on the couch while reading to the kids. We were getting behind and I can’t keep doing that to my kiddos. I’ll have to give this a try.

This is a new one for me, but I could use the benefits of the antiflamatory & clarity of mind.

I love that coconut oil smells good, tastes good and is good for you. Not to mention the fact that you can use it in all kinds of healthy homemade skin creams, etc.

I’ve heard of bulletproof coffee and it’s up for debate as to whether it’s good for you or not BUT Coconut oil and grassfed butter ARE definitely better for you. Sounds too rich for me but I’ve never tried it but I will when I get more butter..

I’ve added hot cocoa mix to my coffee and cringed at the amount of sugar it contains. I never thought to add cocoa powder instead! Seems so obvious! Thank you for that suggestion! I shall be trying it tomorrow morning!

I’ve really got to try this coffee recipe. My aunt has a crazy bulletproof one that uses pink Himalayan salt but I could not handle the salty with my coffee. LOL

I have tried some coconut oil in my coffee and it tastes pretty good.
