I have been looking for a lightweight jacket with a hood for quite some time now and hadn't been able to find one until I came across the eco-friendly, sun-protective GreenBeanz zip up hoodie. I was thrilled to find it as it had almost everything I was looking for. I like to do a lot of walking and living in the Pacific Northwest our weather can vary from sunny to cool, to wet and of course colder in the winter. I wanted a jacket mostly for Spring to early Fall before it gets too cold and we have to wear more of a winter jacket. So it looked like the GreenBeanz jacket that is made of lightweight fabric would be perfect for me and my walks. I also just love the fact that this jacket is eco-friendly I can't believe it's made as a result of a process of using recycled coffee beans!

I chose the pink and black one as you can see below as black goes with everything but I like to have a splash of colour which the pink provides.

A lightweight jacket was important because I like to dress in layers when walking. If it's cool when I leave I put on a jacket but of course I warm up when I walk and many times I've had to take my jacket off and drag around a heavier jacket while on a 60 minute plus walk is not ideal for me. It was wonderful to learn as well that thi jackets is water repellent because remember I live in Vancouver we get light rain, rain and sometimes a lot of rain 🙂 as well the jacket has an  anti-bacterial finish which fights against odors. I was so surprised to learn all of this, water repellency and an anti-bacterial finish, perfect because let me tell you I sweat when I walk and it's nice to know my jacket won't be stinky after just one walk.

The jacket passed the test on my first walk wearing it. It was a sunny but breezy day so not very warm but I knew it would be too warm for any of my other jackets but too chilly for wimpy me to start off without a jacket. Off I went for a nice 45 minute brisk walk starting uphill first. By the time I get to the top of the hill I'm always a little out of breath and you know I've worked hard. The jacket's breathable material was so nice that I didn't actually feel too warm so I kept the jacket it on, by now for most jackets they would have been taken off. By the time I got home I was quite sweaty but my jacket was dry and you guessed it, it did not smell! Anti-backterial finish worked as did the water repellency although I'm not sure if they had sweat in mind when they mentioned it by why not?

I've been complimented more than once on how cute my jacket looks and I think it looks quite cute myself. Even though I'm between a size ⅞-9/10 I got the jacket in large. The medium would have fit me just fine but as I've said I like to dress in layers so I wanted the option of being able to put a sweater or sweatshirt underneath the jacket for the colder months like late October-December. We can get mild enough winters here that the regular winter coat may not be needed but certainly sweaters and other jackets still would be for when I go on my walks.

The only thing this jacket doesn't have that I wished it did are pockets. If it had pockets it would be absolutely perfect but it's still now my favorite jacket even without pockets.

So despite not having pockets Powered by Mom gives the Green Beanz eco-friendly, sun-protective jacket 5 stars out of 5 for being lightweight, fashionable, comfy, water repellent, sun-protective qualities and for being my favourite jacket. 4. i also like their hats, but i doubt i could pull off anything big and floppy - especially in illinois with the wind as strong as it is... i'd be hatless in no time 🙂

  6. It is hard to tell colors on their website....the black looks like blue and the cappucino looks like a maroon....I think I might like the cappucino, but can't tell by online so I think I would play ot safe and go with the ice gray
