Many of you said you wanted to see more photos as we go along with our bathroom renovations and of course want to see the finished product! Well we're no where near the finished product but here's what our flooring will look like!

bathroom reno floor

Go HERE to see the first post. The flooring has very subtle stripes of brown and grey. What color do you think we should paint the walls? Keep in mind some of this same tiling will be up part of the way on the wall and our new vanity which you can see in our first post is dark brown wood with brown, black and tan granite :). Off to do more work on the bathroom.

  1. My husband and I have renovated several bathrooms over our 40 year marriage. We do not use wood on the floor, or tile, as it tneds to life over time and shows grooves like a mini ocean. Ceramic tile stays clean, use grey grout with protective cover and it looks brand new til the end of time.

  2. I think if you go with the silver you should have black in washroom, but thats my tastes what you have picked is pretty. we just put a new washroom in our house and I had placks with hits of blues in tiles but we had a brown rustic kind of tiles for flooring. we painted rest of room a smoky blue grey took me forever to choose my tiles then my hubby gets transferred so new owners get to enjoy my beautiful newly built washroom lol.

  3. I'm curious, what made you go with tile flooring? We're bouncing around between hardwood, laminate, and vinyl, but I haven't thought about hardwood tiles before. Are they easy to install and maintain?

    • Hi Mackenzie, believe it or not that one is a ceramic tile from Costco, we went with it for the color we thought it would go with everything, pricing, will hold up well with our dogs, size and yes according to my hubby it's easy to install 🙂

  5. Looks great so far. We just finished our Master Bathroom a couple months ago. It was a lot of work, but well worth the effort.

  6. Good luck getting it done. Our house burnt and we have been trying to remodel for awhile now and it seems like when you start something it always changes and takes longer than it should.

  7. I love the way it is coming together. The floor tiles are awesome and I love the vanity. It is so hard to know how paint will look on your wall when you look at it under the store lighting but wait and see how you like it when the room is done.

    • Thanks Jill and that's so true about paint. I tried it in so many different lights to look at it lol. I'm getting used to the color now can't wait to share it with you all once it's done 🙂

  8. I would go with light blue for the walls. Blue is supposed to be a very calming color and I think it would go well with everything else.

  10. I would vote for yellow walls. But that might not be appropriate.
I like your choice of flooring. Good luck with the ongoing project!

  12. I read the coolest thing in my new BH&G magazine. There is a company that does a bathroom-in-a-box. After you meet with their sales rep they deliver a crate to your house that contains everything you or your contractor needs to compete the remodel. How cool is that?

  13. Love love love the Vanity, it is gorgeous! I'm going to have to go with lime green with sparkly blue stars? hehe just kidding. A light brown or off white would look nice. Having a new remodeled room is the best feeling and good luck!

  14. I am inspired. I can’t wait to see the finished product. I love that you are sharing this project with us. It’s fun to see what others do when they renovate. We are in the middle of trying to do the same thing and it is hard work. Unfortunately our whole house is a renovation job I wish it was just the bathroom. We are in a house that the previous owner started in every room and finished none LOL. It is a mess. Look forward to some more pictures and your finished product. 🙂

  15. I would go with a light tan or a cream color to make it look larger. Also with the dark floor and dark vanity it will set the room off!

  17. I think you should go with a light tan or ecru color for the walls. Too much brown would make it look smaller. Maybe even a rich eggshell. I'd be interested to see the end result when you are all finished. Hope it all goes without a hitch for you! It seems like every time we redo something, we hit snags that has a domino affect and we end up spending way more than was expected.

  18. I like your floor. The wall would look good a tan color to match all the colors of the bathroom. It's always fun to see how the end comes out.

  21. What a lot of work. I'm sure it'll be well worth the time and effort. I wish we could remodel our bathroom. It's so outdated!

  22. I would go with a light color to make the room look larger trick. Sand goes well with gray and brown, or try a textured brush stroke technique with one color on top of another.

  23. You are brave!! Remodeling is HARD work. It is rewarding but it takes awhile to be able to feel that gratification. I think I would consider a light brownish (like coffee with creamer in it) for the walls to compliment the floor and to keep it from sucking up the light since the vanity is darker. It looks like it's going to absolutely beautiful!!

  24. As the vanity is dark and the bathroom small and some of the tiles will be on the wall, I'd say stay with a lighter color gray or brown on the walls. You don't really need height so maybe you'd consider putting the grain of the tiles length wise on the walls. The bathroom will appear longer and under the window it would appear wider. Just a thought.

  25. I think that remodeling is always hard work, but very rewarding to see how nice your bathroom or any room looks like when it is completed. I know that it can be expensive, but I bet you will love it when it is done!

  27. I'm loving it! Bathroom remodeling is hard work, but is so nice to have done! I like the floor choice, I think I would do three walls a tan color, and a muted blue for the 'color' wall!

  28. That tile is really nice. If you want a modern look I'd choose a grey toned paint. If you want something a little warmer, I'd go with a light blue.
