Homemade Dog Treats with Rolled Oats and Peanut Butter
Homemade Dog Treats with Rolled Oats and Peanut Butter are a perfect choice for giving your dog a special treat you know has healthy ingredients!
Confession time, the dog in these photos is not one of our precious pups. Her name is Juno and her hooman mom made these treats and Juno got to be the first to try them. We love the name Juno though as one of our first dogs, well she was technically our second dog and we adopted her six months after our first dog Zeus and they were the best of buddies. We loved our Juno and miss her all the time so we have a soft spot for the name.
Ingredients for our dog treats with rolled oats
The reason we had Juno's hooman make the treats first was mostly because at the time I didn't have time to make them and photograph them. As well our chihuahua Cleo can be a picky girl and I wanted to see how much another dog, in this case, Juno would like them first.
Juno LOVED these dog treats with rolled oats so I finally made a batch and wow yay our girl Nyx who is not picky at all gobbled them down and our picky eater Cleo she loved them too. So yay and now I can share the recipe with you all now that I know our dogs also love them. Bonus, you get to enjoy photos of Juno who is a standard poodle, she's still a puppy too!
We also used a similar dog bone-shaped cookie cutter but you can of course use whatever shape you like! We don't generally give our dogs the whole piece, we break them up so they last longer. For our next batch, I think I will use a smaller cookie cutter so we can have some smaller versions of these dog treats with rolled oats.
These dog treats are an easy way to spoil your precious pup no matter how old they are. Made with just four ingredients, these dog treats with rolled oats are a nutritious, budget-conscious alternative to store-bought treats. I like knowing exactly what my dogs are eating just like I do with the rest of my family.
Making dog treats at home is simple and the best part is you can customize treats to fit your dog’s needs and tastebuds. It's especially helpful if your dog has allergies or any dietary restrictions and of course, the best part as always is you know the quality of the ingredients in the treats!
When you are buying applesauce for these treats, you want a plain applesauce with no added sugar. It's preferable that it's the same for peanut butter, no added sugar. I used a natural peanut butter, I know they can be messy and you have to constantly stir them before using but it's better for our doggos.
These four-ingredient dog treats make about 12-15 treats in a full batch. For our two dogs, I doubled the batch as they love their treats.

Homemade Dog Treats with Rolled Oats
Homemade Dog Treats with Rolled Oats and Peanut Butter are a perfect choice for giving your dog a special treat you know has healthy ingredients!
Ingredients
- 1 cup of peanut butter (natural preferred with no added sugar)
- ¾ cup of all-purpose flour*
- 1.5 cups of oatmeal
- ¼ cup of apple sauce (no added sugar)
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients together in a bowl
- Roll onto a floured surface and cut out shapes. I did dog bones but you could do anything.
- Place treats on a parchment sheet and bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes or until just golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let cool
Notes
* Depending on the type of peanut butter you may need to
use more flour. You want your dough to be moist and able to mold it.
You can also add some calcium powder for added nutrients for your dog. Make sure to read the label for how much to add.
Now doesn't it look easy to make these tasty peanut butter dog treats with rolled oats? They really are easy to make, good for your dog ingredients and so far all the dogs love them. You can also add some calcium powder (for dogs) to add a bit of extra nutrients for them.

I'm pinning this recipe and looking forward to making these for my puppy for her 1st birthday in a couple of weeks. I love that this recipe uses simple, whole-food ingredients that I have on-hand.
We just got our first family dog a couple of months ago. I love the idea of making homeade dog treats, and this looks like a simple recipe. I already have all the ingredients. I love the dog bone cookie cutter that you have. I am going to pin this recipe and looking forward to making it soon.
Homemade dog treats are a great project for the kids to participate in also. We're able to get the rolled oats on BOGO sale lots of times, so homemade cookies and yummy oatmeal in the morning is often. I think I'll make these for my daughter's new pup and make some in bite size training pieces along with a variety of add ins. I did hear not too long ago to make sure peanut butter does not contain Xylitol, which is very harmful to pups especially. ~ 🙂
I like the idea of making treats for our pups, but they have really bad teeth. How hard are these? Is it possible to make them soft?
These are so simple even I could make them. Sharing this with my niece. She has been making candles, freshies, scents and chocolate bombs of different types. She has made herself a good side business. Most of the people she sells to have dogs do this would be a good addition for her to make.
This would be perfect for the dogs. Thanks for the recipe.
This will be a special treat for my son's 3 pups. Nice that they are so easy to make with just a few ingredients.
I love to bake so making treats for the pup is fun and a money saver and healthier too
Made these today and my dog loved them! However, my mixture was very crumbly. I used the exact measurements for the ingredients, not sure what went wrong.
sometimes it's just a matter of slightly different ingredients/brand that can change it. You can add a wee bit more apple sauce if it's too crumbly or even a wee bit of water.
I was actually looking for an easy recipe for dog treats. I can’t wait to make these. I know my dogs are going to be so happy.
I love this recipe, it really is something that I would love to try for my little Elvis. Thank you for sharing the recipe! I can not wait to try to make them.
My dogs Tuc and PK like any treat so I am sure that these would go over great. I would also use a smaller cookie cutter so that I can get more from the recipe.
I have bookmarked this page and will definitely try this recipe for my dogs.
Puppies need treats too! I love seeing happy doggies so this will be so worth it!
These dog treats are adorable and sound so tasty for pups! I can see why Juno (love this name, too!) loved them. I can't wait to make some! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!
