Homeselfe Helps You Save Money
We’re excited to share a new, free app that is all about saving you money, it’s the Homeselfe. Our winter has been a long one. Luckily for us our favorite groundhog has predicted an early spring and we can look forward to warmer weather hopefully soon. This is especially good news for anyone who has noticed the toll that the long winter has taken on not only their mood but their bank accounts too. Everyone knows that in order to stay comfortable, especially in the summer and winter months, you have one of two extra expenses: heat and air. While some people might not give the extra expense a second thought, my family is very budget conscious and the sky high increase in our electric bill is something that tends to give us a bit of anxiety every year.
Say hello to the website and app that will help you save money on your energy costs!
A few years ago I finally decided to be proactive about our electric bill. Enough was enough, there had to be an easier way to offset the cost that was eating away at our budget every month. I was especially unhappy in the winter and summertime with the extra expense, so, I started researching ways that I could cut corners a little bit. From black out curtains to insulating windows and even just turning off appliances and lights when they weren’t in use, the more I researched the easier it became and the more we saw a decrease from month to month in our bill. Still, I knew there was room for improvement. When I stumbled across Homeselfe, it was worth taking a closer look at how such a little app claimed to have such a big impact on our electric bill.
Here’s a screenshot of the app.
Homeselfe is the patent pending free home energy assessment app and web service for homeowners who want to learn more about their home and its energy consumption. In my mind there was nothing more perfect than an app that would help pinpoint the problem areas in my home so I could further reduce the cost of my bill each month. The makers behind Homeself know that the need for appliances is steadily growing and with it so are the energy bills of people worldwide. Knowing which appliances are drawing what amount of power and figuring out what needs to be updated to help save money is one thing that Homeself boasts being able to help with. This nifty little app brings you the power of going energy efficient, all from the comfort of your own home.
I used both the site and the app. I’m sharing pictures from the site only because they are bigger.
Using Homeself is incredibly easy. It creates a digital mock up of your home and provides a questionnaire that users can answer at their own pace, within the convenience and comfort of their own home. Once you’ve completed the questionnaire you’ll instantly receive a full, easy to read report that provides a clear picture of your homes efficiency, where you can improve and what appliances might be in a need of an upgrade to better help save you money on your monthly bill.
It took me about 7 minutes to go through all the “rooms” on the app, it was easy to do and it was also an eye-opener on what I knew and didn’t know about my own home.
Here was my final report showing where I could make improvements in my home. There’s more details where it can tell you how much more you can save each year as well.
It’s so easy, anyone can download the app and get a report on their home. Homeself also keeps you up to date with contractors near you as well as rebates provided by your local government. You’re able to save in more ways than just one with this incredibly nifty little app. If for any reason you have any issues, for example, if the app can’t find your power company (LPC on the app) just go to the website, you don’t need to enter LPC on there although it’s helpful to give you a more precise estimate on where you can save.
