  1. Well I live on an old farm with my bf. The heat in the house is supplied by an old wood stove his father built/welded together. The rest of the house is heated with portable heaters in each bedroom...Its a chilly winter, but we enjoy fresh eggs from our chickens, and raising a few pigs for butcher in the spring. I look forward to spring! : )

  2. I try not to get into crowds or around others too much. My husband cuts back on church and shopping and continually washes hands. In otherwords we become antisocial so not to share that unhealthy flu/cold!

  3. It is always humid in Louisiana, so thats a plus in the winter, but it can get pretty cold. I try to not use the heater when I don';t have to because it dries out my skin. I do use more lotion in winter

  4. this is the first winter where I've needed lotion...I use a ton. The rest of the stuff I do all of the time....use a paper towel to open public bathroom doors, etc

  5. I wash my hands and use everything to keep the germs down, but this past week we all ended up with the nasty flu bug that is going around. I sure could use these, we have coal heat and it's a hot heat and it dries everything out. so I always have a stock of lotions, drinks and stuff ready for the winter months.

  7. I take extra Vitamin C and use Airborne before, during & after travelling. I also constantly wash my hands with HOT water & antibacterial soap.

  8. Since I am usually cold all the time, I cuddle in a warm, fuzzy blanket when I am sitting to knit, crochet, or read. Vick's cough drops to keep my throat feeling good, and plenty of liquids to stay hydrated.

  9. I stay healthy in the winter by living a vegan life style all yearlong. But also drinking plenty of water and taking my vitamins everyday and night. Hot tea is important and getting plenty of sleep.

  10. There aren't many preemptive measures you can realistically take to prevent the kids from getting sick. The best preparation is to have the proper medications on hand for when they do.

  11. I do my best in trying to take care of ysef by getting a flu shot and using my neti pot if I feel I'm getting sick and taking vitimins

  12. I drink tons of extra water and take slightly cooler showers so my skin doesn't get too dry with all the extra washing (no way, FLU!).

  13. Stay warm in light layers, lotion up daily to avoid dry cracked skin and be sure to take extra warm clothes & blankets with you when ever you leave home, no matter where you go you never know if you'll get stuck out. Don't forget to drink your water, I know cause like me during the colder months it's harder to drink what I need and easier to dehydrate.

  16. During the winter I try to stay bundled up so I don't get sick, and also so my muscles don't get super tense from being cold. I also use a ton of lotion.

  25. Raw honey and cinnamon twice a day to help boost the immune system and ward off colds and the flu bug. Moisturize daily especially when the heat is on, and I use lip protection as well.

  26. I use body butter instead of lotion because it is thicker and I make sure to always condition my hair because my house gets very dry and I hate static in my hair.

  27. Since it's usually cold and flu season, I take more care to always keep hand sanitizer in my car. I also disinfect every doorknob, shelf, counter, fridge, etc. For health, I take Emergen-C, echinacea, and I moisturize my hands at least twice a day to keep them from getting those painful dry cracks!

  28. i don't really do anything different unless i get sick and then i take my mom's advice:tylenol every 4-6 until the fever breaks, orange juice or similiar for vitamin c, flat 7up for upset stomach and beef soup broth for nourishment. then at night vicks vaporrub on chest if needed and NyQuil. should be better within 2-3 days tops.
of couse the key is to eat and live health as possible all along, so when you do get sick your body is strong enough to fight it.

  30. I do a lot of layering of clothing, so that I don't spend all of my money on my heating bill. I tend not to pamper myself, and wash my hands way too often, so they're cracked and dry. When it gets bad enough, I finally get out the gold bond, which works wonders!
