Powered by Mom Blog talks about Hot Flashes

I have some funny friends we like to joke around, tease each other you know what I mean have fun and laugh at ourselves. Well some of them had been teasing me a few months ago saying I was having hot flashes and must be getting to that age ha ha ha these same friends are also older than me I think some of them were hoping I was joining them in menopause.

No way I thought I'm way too young for that! Also, I've always been one to "heat up" easily meaning I would get very flushed in the face and sweat easily when working out or just warm up quite easily. This happened even as a teenager so I wasn't taking them seriously when I complained about being too hot sometimes. I mean come now I have a 10-year-old daughter I'm not a grandmother!

Well, I have learned since that really menopause can occur between the ages of 35-59 but apparently the average age of women in the US to go into menopause is 51. I'm safe on that age-wise. I also learned that my more frequent occurrence of a flushed face even when I wasn't exercising was due to the onset of rosacea, something I never had before. It's so wonderful getting older, isn't it? The rosacea is another story I will tell another time.

I really like that this site provides a ton of information on menopause, symptoms, remedies, proactive suggestions and well as far as I can see anything you can think of related to menopause and hot flashes. Coincidentally enough some of the symptoms and proactive measures you can take to help minimize hot flashes are similar to rosacea. No wonder my friends were teasing me that I was going into menopause. For example here are some things that they suggest you stay away from to help reduce hot flashes even though it's hormonal there are triggers and these are some of them:

  1.  Excessively caffeinated beverages
  2.  Smoking tobacco
  3.  Excessively alcoholic beverages
  4.  Diet pills
  5.  Overly spicy foods
  6.  Extremely warm or hot showers
  7.  Saunas
  8.  Hot tubs
Numbers 1, 3, 5, 7 & 8 were also suggested to me to avoid when dealing with my rosacea interesting, isn't it? Although I admit I still drink coffee (one a day), the occasional wine so not excessive and I simply cannot give up spicy foods no way not happening and we have a hot tub which is good for my joints.

It's the price I'm willing to pay lol but it's nice to know that a lot of the proactive action you can take and the remedies for hot flashes that they suggest are things you can easily do if you choose to. Of course, as each woman is unique so is how they go through menopause so keep that in mind and that not all things work for everyone. It's good to always check out your options to find what works for you.

I'll be keeping all of this in mind when I actually do get to the menopausal stage which is many years to come still for me, I think 🙂
