You may or may not know that your skin is your body’s biggest organ. It’s true. What you do to your skin can say a lot towards your internal health too. Think about when someone has jaundice and their skin and whites of their eyes start to yellow. That is the body telling them something is going wrong inside, with their liver. There are other external signs of internal issues also.
On top of all of that, you also may not realize that your skin can absorb the things you put on it, and they can get into your body. That includes good stuff, like vitamins, and bad stuff, like toxins. That’s just one of the reasons why it is important to pay attention to the ingredients of the things you are putting on your skin.
If you want to take better care of your skin–and your insides as well–here are a few things to do that will help you look and feel healthier.
Drink Plenty of Water
Just as the issues inside your body reflect on your skin, what you eat and drink does, too. That is why it is very important to drink enough water every day. Water works from the inside out to help hydrate your skin and make it look healthy. You may not realize, but up to 60% of the adult human body is made up of water!
Get Your Vitamins
Just like the water you drink, the vitamins and minerals you ingest into your body can also help keep your skin clean, clear and beautiful. Antioxidants are a great example of this. They are found in fruits and vegetables, and they help clear the toxins from your body.
You can also get vitamins through your lotions, whether you buy them with these ingredients already in them or find ways to add them yourself.
Watch the Ingredients on Lotions
Since the lotions you put on your skin are going to be absorbed into it you want to make sure that you are using lotions with natural ingredients. If you find ingredients you can’t even say don’t be afraid to take some time to look them up. Knowing what you are putting in and on your body is one of the first steps to living healthier.
You can also add your own extras, like tea tree oil, to give your skin a healthy boost, depending on your skin type or skin issues.
Take Care of Skin Issues, Naturally
While some skin issues may require a visit to the doctor or a specialist, try some more natural approaches first. For acne, you can try using diluted tea tree oil. This also works for dry patches of skin. If you suffer from skin tags, whether they are on your face or other areas of your body, try a skin tag remover developed from all-natural ingredients.
Take care of your skin. It is a very important part of your body and one of the most visible parts of you. You want it to withstand old age, so help it stay healthy and vibrant with these tips.

I never thought to read the ingredients on lotion. This is a great tip. Thanks. I do however mainly use coco butter lotion. I’ll have to read the bottle now.

I definitely agree that you should watch the ingredients in lotions, etc.! I was trying to decide why my skin on my legs was getting red after I put a certain lotion on them & then, far down on the ingredient list I found: raspberry extract. Oops! I’m allergic to raspberries! There was probably just a small amount in there, & my legs weren’t itching, but they would turn red, lol.
