Are you wondering is this some new parenting book? Is it about how to make a stand at work? What are we laying down the law about?
Actually it is about the law. It’s a text, an 8th edition so the most up to date book to introduce students to the study of law.
Do you have an aspiring lawyer in the family or want to nurture a respect and knowledge of Australian law in someone? Laying Down the Law includes such topics as legal history, Australia’s legal system and sources of law, indigenous legal issues, the doctrine of precedent, statutory interpretation and legal research and writing. Practical examples and exercises support learning and development of key skills.
It is a clear, concise and comprehensive book that not only gives the history of Australian law but has practical applications as well. It includes a discussion on the opportunities available to law graduates and talks about ethical practices. It also has exercises to help students to test their knowledge both in the book and online. There is academic support available online which I think is fabulous as many people find that to be an extremely helpful supplement to hard copy texts.
Especially in this day and age we need to go beyond the textbook and by providing online support this particular textbook is doing just that.It is available has a hard copy book and e-book of course the preference of many today. I myself still prefer hard copy books but I know many people who love their e-readers which is also a lot lighter in your bag than carrying a ton of books.
If you or someone you know are interested in this book feel free to go and check it out HERE.

My granddaughter is a freshman in college and her dream is to become a lawyer. There is so much to learn/do however she is undounted. I am sure she will be reading lots of law books.
Me, I am just a grandma and never had interest in the law…different times.
