Powered by Mom Blog and family were lucky enough to receive the basket of goodies as show above of environmentally conscious products that are good for the Earth and some yummy products that are good for us! What do you do to be more eco-friendly? Even the smallest choices and actions can have an impact and reduce your carbon footprint!
Did you know that London Drugs has On top of that London Drugs has a some great “green services”? I only learned this recently myself but they have the “Bring Back the Pack,” which encourages shoppers to bring back any packaging materials like cardboard, Styrofoam, and plastic for recycling purposes. To see what products can be recycled through London Drugs, or to learn more about these eco-friendly services and products visit the Green Deal website at www.greendeal.ca. Way to go London Drugs and since I frequently shop at London Drugs and now I know about this program I will take advantage of it!
Here’s what our basket included:
Tom’s Toothpaste with Flouride – Tom’s aims to use renewal resources in their products and it’s their goal to be green for all of their business practices. One such eample is when they switched from aluminum to laminate tubing. How does that help? Well it lowers raw materials and energy usage which lowers their carbon footprint, way to go Tom’s! It’s the first time I’ve tried this toothpaste and now I’m wondering why I hadn’t switched before, my mouth feels clean and I don’t get all that extra foam and toothpaste which I prefer!
Nature’s Path Organic Crunch Maple Sunrise Cereal and Chewy Granola Bars in Pumpkin-N-Spice – Let me just say the granola bars only lasted a few days around here as my daughter LOVED them and she’s a picky eater. So it was absolutely fabulous to find her a healthy snack that she liked so much and that she could put in her school lunch. I was greedy and kept the cereal to myself as I LOVE Nature’s Path cereals and this one is no exception. Maple flavor and it’s not too sweet and I know I’m eating healthy it doesn’t get better than that!
SIGG Water Bottle – This one is obvious save plastic and use a reusable water bottle. I love the spout on this one as I hate the ones where I have to unscrew the top to get to the water as it’s not hand when you’re on the go. This one is super handy and it keeps anything from getting in as well with the it’s unique drinking spout.
Bamboo Chopping Board – I love anything made of bamboo, if I had my way our floors would be bamboo as well as it’s so durable and eco-friendly (can grow easily without pesticides & fertilizer). I’m loving my new chopping board!
Seventh Generation Natural Dish Liquid – I used to buy the cheap dish liquid but I discovered that in the end it was costing me more because I was going through them so quickly. They are like water it seems nowadays and those $1 brands you can tell the difference because you have to use more of it to get the dishes clean. When I switched to green products for dish soap I noticed how much longer they lasted because you can use less and still get those dishes clean and I’m picky so I mean it really has to do the job. Seventh Generation does not disappoint it gives me the suds I need and it gets my dishes squeaky clean making Powered by Mom a happy mama :).
All these wonderful products are but a few ways you go be a little more eco-friendly but they’re not your only choices there’s so many more and you can start small or big the choice is yours.
