I know I'm as guilty as the next mom for not taking some time for myself out of my crazy schedule, after all we think of ourselves last don't we? The Mommy Time-Out Means Mommy Can...book is a fun and helpful reminder that we need to do just that, take some time for ourselves! If we take that time we can recharge, relax and make those crazy times feel more manageable because we've had "me" time.

My favorite Mommy Time-out guideline is:

Be consistent: Take a Time-Out one to two times a week. They don't all have to be two hours long. A movie on Sunday can easily be followed by a half hour candle lit bubble bath on Wednesday.

When you think about it a 30 minute time-out twice a week is not much at all but it can go a long way. It reminds me that when I started to work from home about a year ago I started trying to do just that. In fact I was trying to take 30 minutes a day as all too often I find myself working non-stop on my computer, trying to tidy up the house and more. Working from home I tend to forget to take the break and keep going not just on my "work" but also the house and family stuff as it stares me in the face. It is the challenge of working from home, it's hard to ignore the household stuff unlike when you're away from the house working in an office for example. My friends used to chuckle when I said I'm taking my 30 minutes and if it as a nice day I would go outside and sit in the backyard and read a book for 30 minutes. Even in the Mommy Time-Out book  it reminds us to get our Vitamin D get some sun (remember the sunscreen) and lie back in that lounger and just enjoy the sun and relaxation.

It's amazing how much a 30 minute break can recharge and relax you at the same time. It's also too easy to forget to do it as we moms tend to put ourselves last. This book is a nice, easy read for mommy to get gentle and useful reminders while enjoying the book as well. I love that all the women pictured in the books are real moms, no unrealistic supermodels in this book. One of my favorite Mommy-Time Out quotes is Mommy Can shop until she drops lol. I love to shop, it is fun but it's definitely more fun if you don't have that little voice asking is it time go to yet, can we go to the toy store etc.. ore reading that book with sentences longer than give words and no pop-ups love it!

I can wholeheartedly say I enjoyed this book and I think it's a great gift for any mom any time of the year and if you want don't wait treat yourself and by it for yourself!

  1. I try to take some time for myself every day - sometimes it is 30 minutes sometimes it is only 5 but those minutes are mine and I do what makes me happy.
