Why Does Music Therapy Work?
Everyone in the world connects with music in one way or another. There are many people who think that they are not musical because they do not possess some great musical gift, but everyone is musical in some way. Music therapy works because people connect to music when they perhaps cannot connect with anything else.
Singing
There are many people who enjoy singing because it is something they have done all their life. A group like Sing For Hope brings that singing into the places where people are most weak. Hospitals, medical clinics treatment centers should be filled with singing by every person who feels led to sing.
The Help
When people need help finding their way back to singing, they can get that help from a music therapist. The music therapist is someone who knows how to use music to create healing. Someone who is in pain all the time will forget that pain for the few minutes that they are singing.
Bringing People Together
Bringing many patients together for the purpose of singing will change the way those patients act in their own community. The community of patients alone becomes a place where the patients feel comfortable with each other. The choruses that resound through the halls of the clinics across America will change the way people feel as they fight for their lives.
The Individual Therapy
The volunteers who bring their musical talents to these clinics and hospitals are changing lives with their own free time. Anyone who has a musical gift to share should find a way to give that gift to the people in their community. There are many people who would love to share in these musical gifts while they are going through the hardest fight of their lives.
Volunteering a voice, providing assistance and organizing choirs will change the way people feel while they are getting treatment for illness. The treatment is difficult, but music can bring life back to a place that often seems lifeless. If people have a gift to share, they can share it with one person or the whole clinic.
