Since my little boys were born, I’m up 50 pounds and trying to shake it off. It’s not so much about how I look – it’s more about how I FEEL, and my overall health.

One of my favorite ways to ensure I am getting enough food – but the right foods – while I breastfeed and try to lose those pounds is by drinking my food. I’ve been making all sorts of smoothies and shakes, especially for breakfast. And my latest trick: I turn my afternoon coffee break into a little extra protein boost by making a delicious shake (I shared with you the recipe below).

This morning, I tossed a few frozen broccoli florets into the blender, together with some baby carrots, a banana, chia seeds, protein powder, and milk. That’s two servings of vegetable and protein and a serving of fruit right there!

The thing is, as I use different ingredients throughout the day, it’s not necessarily a one-size-fits-all situation. Different ingredients have different blending needs and that’s the genius of the Nutri Ninja Ninja BlendMax Duo: you get a two-in-one experience.

About Nutri Ninja:

The Ninja Blender Duo shows this innovation by relating to what moms like me need. It comes with two types of blenders in one machine: a nutrient extraction blender – with a blade that fits right into two included cups, and a powerful crushing blender to to puree and make smoothies, milkshakes and more.

Their powerful blender once again shows that they are leading the industry and making things both convenient and extra functional.

Features of the Nutri Ninja Ninja BlendMax Duo:

  • Auto iQ programming: Push the right button and the blender knows what to do!
  • Nutrient and vitamin extraction: breaks up seeds, frozen fruit, and smaller amounts of ice using blend and ultra blend features.
  • Total crushing technology: Can make dips, sauces and purees, and even crush larger amounts of ice to make snow and smoothies.
  • Comes with an 18 oz and a 24 oz Tritan Nutri Ninja cup plus lids for each.

  • Huge 88 oz pitcher for crushing, with a spout lid
  • You get a beautiful glossy cookbook full of recipes to get you started. It includes a guide for the best presets for making your own recipes.
  • 2 ways to use it: Choose from five presets and then choose boost on or off (to blend more or less.) Or, you can go with classic modes and choose High, Medium, Low or Pulse.
  • Blades, containers, and lids are dishwasher safe.
  • Containers and lids are BPA free.

I tested the Ninja BlendMax Duo on my afternoon coffee yesterday. Well, it was more like a mocha milkshake with an added protein boost. I hope you enjoy!

Mocha Protein Shake Recipe

Make this delicious mocha protein shake recipe to give you a delicious caffiene AND protein boost!

In one of the cups, put a few squares of milk chocolate, a small handful of raw cashews, a teaspoon of instant coffee, and a teaspoon of Stevia sweetener (or 2 teaspoons of sugar.)nutrininja-protein-mocha-drink-recipe-5

Add a few ice cubes if you want and a scoop of ice cream (I used Rocky Road ice cream.) Add a scoop of whey protein powder as well. If you have a chocolate flavored powder, that’s the best!nutrininja-protein-mocha-drink-recipe-6

Top it off with as much milk as you’d like. When you blend, you don’t need to worry about using hot water to dissolve the coffee and sugar – the blending does it for you.nutrininja-protein-mocha-drink-recipe-7

Place the lid on the cup and put the cup on the base. I did smoothie for this but I don’t think that was the right setting – I’m still learning it! I would recommend pulsing until it’s ready.nutrininja-protein-mocha-drink-recipe-8 nutrininja-protein-mocha-drink-recipe-9

I also chose NOT to boost, which was perfect – I ended up with tiny bits of chocolate and nuts inside that made it even more delicious.

nutrininja-protein-mocha-drink-recipe-10

Remove the blade and top off with whipped cream if you want.nutrininja-protein-mocha-drink-recipe-12

Add the lid and drink away! This gave me an extra boost to get my work done yesterday.nutrininja-protein-mocha-drink-recipe-13

And I loved that I didn’t have to wash a blender AND a cup – the blender serves as the cup itself.nutrininja-protein-mocha-drink-recipe-11

If you are looking for a powerful appliance that will meet all your various blending needs – from hummus, to soup, to purees, and a better version of coffee, the Nutri Ninja Ninja BlendMax Duo is the perfect choice! Read more on this fantastic system HERE.

The Mocha Protein Shake recipe sounds delicious. I love the fact that you were able to blend ice and nuts. Some personal sized blenders are not very powerful enough to handle hard or frozen things. The fact that you can use the Nutri Ninja to blend smoothies, purees, soups, and other things makes it a great kitchen appliance that would get utilized a lot in my home.

The best thing about the Nutri Ninja is that it knows what to do. I have a blender but never use it because I don’t know what speeds to use for what I am making. It gets confusing and I am afraid I will waste my product. With the Nutri Ninji, it has the Auto iQ programming ability so the machine knows exactly what to do.

I really like how this blender can pulverize things like ice, seeds, and nuts completely. I have an old blender which is definitely not high-speed…I have to add a lot of liquid to get it to work at all, and even then my smoothies end up extra chunky! I also appreciate the fact that they include extra containers. That would be super convenient for my husband and I to take smoothies to go. Thanks for this detailed review!

That mocha protein shake looks DEElicious. I’m wondering whether the Nutri Ninja is easy to clean. My biggest gripe with my current blender, which is actually my grandma’s blender from the 1950’s, is that it’s a royal pain to take apart and clean after using it.

This is awesome, i’ve never seen a blender like this. I didn’t realize that you can blend right in the cups themselves and not have to dirty and wash the blender just for a cupful, plus everyone can have different drinks.

I have the NutriBullet and I really love it. My husband, who is anti-veggie will actually drink a smoothie with spinach in it. These are really the best things ever. I love the additional features on this large one and the bigger container – I can make both of our smoothies at once!

I would love a Ninja Blender! Ours definitely needs an upgrade, it doesn’t chop ice or anything hard very well at all. I love that this comes with two different size personal cups; it just makes it that much better!

We have one of those “personal blenders” that you can drink out of the blender cup, but it doesn’t have enough power to chop up nuts and such, so it’s good to hear this machine can do that, though it’d be nice to know if it can also make a totally smooth smoothie for those times when you don’t want to have to chew your smoothies.

I have a problem eating breakfast. I just don’t do it. I saw a dietician and she said that I was doing pretty good all in all. I am 63 and diabetic and recent heart issues. My point is that one of these systems would be just the right thing for me so I could make smoothies for my breakfast! This looks like an amazing system with two types of blenders in one system.
