I have never used a pressure cooker before so this was very new experience for me! Fortunately it was easy to figure out how to use it as the directions were helpful and easy to follow. The first time I used the pressure cooker I did something nice and easy spaghetti sauce. You cook the meat in the pot just like you do normally and then once the meat is cooked you put in the rest of your ingredients which in my case was tomato sauce, basil, fresh oregano, finely chopped garlic, a little bit of rosemary, finely chopped onions and some salt and pepper. Secure the lid, select the pressure and set the timer.

In this case it only too 13 minutes to cook the sauce, now that is fast. The meat was moist and the sauce was flavorful I was quite impressed. I thought this is so easy so I decided to try to cook my brown rice spaghetti noodles in the pressure cooker. I had found online a chart that gave you ideas of times on how long to cook certain types of food so I set the timer and pressure again and cooked the noodles. Well unfortunately I wasn't as successful with the noodles as I was with the sauce as they came out mushy. We had cooked them for too long which was only 7 minutes but that's too long. We've tried cooking the same type of noodles a few times now and have perfected out timing which is wonderful as before it would take me well over 20 minutes to cook the brown rice noodles after the water came to a boil. Now we can cook these noodles in less than 7 minutes (once the pressure cooker is at the temperature).

I also tried out the Poached Salmon recipe that Fagor had on their site. This was so easy to cook and tasted so good! I didn't have all of the ingredients such as the fennel seed and the dill but still it was extremely tasty and easy to cook. Below  unlike the spaghetti sauce I remembered to take a picture of the salmon dish that I made 🙂

Overall once you figure out how long to have certain foods in the pressure cooker you're good to go so I give the Fagor Chef Pressure Cooker a 2 thumbs up for ease of use, helping to create healthy meals and being a top notch quality product.

Up next I want to make the creme caramel as it says it only takes 10 minutes in the pressure cooker WOW. I made creme caramel the traditional way just last week and it too 50 minutes so I can't wait to try it out with the pressure cooker! You can find a link to this recipe and more from Fagor below!

Here are just a few of the wonderful recipes you can make with the Fagor Chef Pressure Cooker in less time it would take to make them without this wonderful product! More recipes are available from the Fagor site HERE

  1. I would have to search for the recipe, my mother used to bread steak and put it in her pressure cooker and it was awesome!

  2. My favorites in the pressure cooker are steak & noodles and chop suet. (But I don't have a pressure cooker any longer) so its now just on stovetop.

  3. My husband, kids, and I have been eating much healthier. No fried foods, pretty much no sweets. We mainly eat protein, fruits, veggies, and a few healthy carbs. So, what would I make? EVERYTHING! A pressure cooker would cut my cooking time in more than half!!

  4. Junnu is an Indian (espcially made in southern part of India) sweet made from cow's lactating milk or junnu paalu. This milk is thick, yellowish and smells for the first few days. Back home, we collect this milk after a Cow gives birth to a calf and add regular milk to prepare this dessert.

The first person that comes to my mind when I think of "Junnu" is my brother. My mom's cousin has a dairy farm and she used to bring a lot of junnu paalu (cow's lactating milk) almost once in every month. My mom used to freeze this milk and made junnu when my brother came from boarding school. I used to hate this sweet when I was in India, as it made its presence 365 days in our home. But, when i got married and came to US, i really missed it. Not any more as I got this recipe from my friend. It will definitely satisfy all those Junnu lovers without the actual cow's lactating milk.

    Ingredients:

    Evaporated milk - 1 cup
    Whole milk - 2 cups
    Eggs - 2
Jaggery - 1 to 1 1/2 cup (according to your taste)
    Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
Black Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp

    Method:

Mix all the ingredients into a stainless steel bowl which will fit in your pressure cooker. Sprinkle the cardamom and black pepper powder on the top of this mixture. Pressure cook until you get 8 whistles. Serve it cool....
