Model Kits by Revell Allow Children to Make AND Play

Making a craft can be fun but then it just sits there. Why not allow your child to make something that they will also be able to play with once completed. Revell Model Kits are fun for your child to put together but then can be played over and over. It is like giving them two gifts in one.

Revell Model Kits are a Powered by Mom Holiday Gift Guide pick. Check out our Gift Guide HERE.

About Revell Model Kits

Revell makes different model kits depending on the age and skill of your child. Kits are available in both snap together and the kind that you glue together. My son is ten and although he would do well at the glue kits, he enjoys the snap together a lot because he can take them apart and rebuild if he wants to switch up playing versus building the model. Both the building and the playing are fun to him (and to most children) so we prefer the snap together!

My Thoughts

My son was able to complete his models all by himself without ANY help from us. Each kit has individual bags inside that separate the parts, making it easier for them to not be overwhelmed by all the pieces!

The instructions are clear for even a child to understand. Snapping the pieces together was no problem for my son other than snapping in the arms and legs of the figures in the kits. He DID do it all by himself but mentioned that was the only hard part. So, if you have a younger child working on the model kit, you might need to assist them with the arms and legs on the figures.

I love how he was able to put his mind to work while following directions, using motor skills to snap each piece together, and then he uses his creativity while playing with the models once they are all put together. He loved them so much that he asked for more for Christmas. So, guess what is sitting wrapped under our tree right now?! Can't wait to see the look on his face with all the other model kits by Revell on Christmas morning!

  2. I love that you can make them and play with them, most models are so fragile that you can not play with them. My grandson would really dig these.

  4. my son loves putting together model kits but we hadn't seen these before. Love that he'd be able to play with them and they won't be just another model kit put together that sits there collecting dust

  8. I love that it is easy for them to snap together. Some models are really brittle and trying to snap them together is scary lol. Its nice to know there is good quality models for the littler ones

  9. I am really glad I read this. I ( umm Santa) picked up a kit for my 8 year old daughter and husband. I had no clue they also made snap ones. Going to have to pick up a few for rainy day activities.

  10. I learned that they are snap together and glue together kits....I think. It wasn't clear, is the same model available either way, a model can be done either way, or are there some glue and some snap?

  17. My 6-year old loves building stuff. He may be a touch young yet, but I know his older brother would love to help him with it. I love that you can snap them together and take them apart.

  18. These are soooo neat. I bet my daughter would enjoy the Scooby-Doo plane most of all. Ok pretty much any of them, she loves building things and these are right up her ally

  19. I love the snap together option. My grandson has never put models together and this would teach him how without the mess of glue. I wish these had been around when I was growing up. I can remember gluing my models and painting them and I would always loose the small pieces. But it was still fun and I know my grandson would have so much fun while learning how to put a model together.

  22. I had the great pleasure of observing the original model of the Millennium Falcon at the traveling Star Wars museum exhibit - and on close inspection, darned if it didn't look like they incorporated pieces of old Revell kits into it! So it all comes around full circle.

  28. I totally agree that even though kids like to put together these models, once they are a finished product, they usually get put on a shelf to collect dust and just get looked at. I followed Revell on Pinterest and pinned the Revell® SnapTite Build & Play Star Wars First Order Heavy Assault At-M6 Walker to my 2017 Gift Ideas so hopefully, I’ll remember and others will see that this is an excellent gift for our creative children! The best parts that I like are no glue is needed and that the finished model can be played with! Thank you for sharing this!

  31. These sound really user-friendly. I love there are the two different options of gluing or snapping. Also love that the pieces are grouped together in different bags. That’s an amazing and thoughtful plan to keep someone from getting overwhelmed.

Thanks for sharing your son’s amazing experience! I look forward to trying one (or more) of these with my almost 10 year old niece!
