Powered by Mom and family are thankful for their Dogs!
We are a family of animal lovers so much so I don't think we would feel complete if we didn't have our dogs as part of our family. In fact I know we wouldn't as when my husband and I first moved in together we didn't have any canine family with us and we couldn't in the apartment we lived in so we got a cat, the only pet we were allowed to have. We love our cats too but not having a dog was well weird for us.
The first house we moved into we finally got at dog, our German Shepherd Zeus who grew into a big 120lb teddy bear and was loved by all. He and our second dog Juno a Boxer/Ridgeback were both a part of our family before our daughter was born. They were there the day we brought her home from the hospital and until this day I still remember how both of them would go in and check in on her as she slept in her crib.
While our beloved Juno and Zeus are no longer with us we think of them often and feel lucky to have have two current canine family members our Blue Heeler Luna a spunky and protective girl who goes to work with my husband every day and Little Zeus (yes named after big Zeus) our 6lb Chihuahua who is the loudest of the bunch. They keep us all company and just bring joy into our lives every day we just can't imagine life without them.
This is why I'm thankful that companies like Iams do such wonderful thngs as their #ShakeItForward program where they donate 1 bowl of food to pets in select animal shelters across the US up to 250,000 bowls! In fact they exceeded that goal and with Thanksgiving around the corner, in the continued spirit of giving they are now going to double that donation to 500,000 bowls! WOW now that truly is a giving spirit!
Before I go on check out this fun Punk'd Puppy Video HERE it was part of the inspiration for the #ShakeItForward campaign.
Don't forget about your favorite canine family this Thanksgiving you can give them a little turkey treat too and as it so happens Iams has some yummy, soft and chewy treats for our dogs that they will love I'm sure and of course they have turkey flavor you can see them HERE

This is awesome!!!
Such a great idea! I had never heard of it before.
I always admire people and companies that have a heart for animals. This is a very wonderful thing to do!!
Such an awesome idea!I hope the goal is reached plus a lot more.
We do all we can to help support all local animal rescue organizations and shelters as best as we can. The fate of so many dear, precious cats and dogs is simply heartbreaking. It's important to support the companies and organizations that committed to animal welfare and well-being.
In an effort to spread the word I've shared this post on Facebook, G+ and Twitter. Thanks for all you do and give - and bless you for your generous spirit and good works!
this is great for pet lovers!
I always had a dog growing up. Right now I don't feel that we have the room for one. And, I don't like barking.
Your dogs are so cute! I just love dogs and I have a make basset hound that is my best friend! It is so important to give our dogs high quality dog food like iams. I think that it is awesome that Iams is donating 500,000 bowls of food to animal shelters! Shared on Facebook

The #ShakeItForward program sounds wonderful. Happy to share!
I KNOW OF A POODLE WHO WOULD LIKE THESE-HE THINKS HE IS HUMAN SOME TIMES AND WANTS REAL HUMAN FOOD OR TREATS.BUT HE HAS TO BE GOOD TO GET REAL TREATS...
This is a great campaign.I know how hard it is for some of the animal shelters to feed the animals that they have. This is so nice of Iams to donate to a worthy cause.

I grew up with dogs, and like you couldn't have them when I moved out and into an apartment, then later a condo. Found myself owned by two cats who I loved dearly though not having a dog left me missing something. The minute I got my first house I got two... an English Springer Spaniel, Carib and a rescued Samoyed, Banks. Carib came me when I divorced. Unfortunately I couldn't keep all especially as I moved from CA to Hi. Broke my heart but Carib was my baby and I could never have left her behind. She went with me from HI to WA and she died, happy I believe, at almost 13. Another Springer and a new rescue followed. Mud Puddle died unexpectedly, and suddenly... he literally "dropped dead" , at about 9 and a half two years ago Thanksgiving Day. I haven't quite gotten over it yet. Neither has Vix, her sister, a mutt who completely owns me. Thanks for the post. Happy Thanksgiving.
