Powered by Mom’s Spring Break Staycation Tips & Giveaway
Open to Canada* Only – Ends 3/27
Spring break has sprung for most of Canada and if you’re like us and many families you’re probably hanging out close to home. That doesn’t mean you can’t have some family spring break fun. In fact we want to make sure you’re having some fun so we’ve got some spring break staycation tips and a fabulous giveaway prize valued at $80!
Sponsored by: Church & Dwight
My hubby and I are both self-employed so it can be a challenge for us to take time off from work to travel for more than a few days. While we do like to plan some longer vacations we still have a ton of fun staying near home as we enjoy staycation excursions and other activities. We’re going to share with you some of our favourite tips for a fun spring staycation.
Living in Metro Vancouver we’re lucky to have the mountains, ocean, an abundance of lakes within driving distance and of course our neighbours to the south where we can do some cross border shopping (although not lately with our lower dollar), visit Seattle and more. Some of the things we like to do is head to the mountains and as you know we have a few to choose from. We don’t even need snow, in fact I personally like to go when there’s not as much snow or better yet no snow. There are trails to walk and hike, biking trails, great shops and oh so many resorts to just go and ahem chill out. Many are also pet-friendly so we can take our two dogs Luna and Little Zeus. When there is now of course there’s a ton of things to do like ski, snowboard, snow tube and much much more.
Tip: If you have family members who are motion sensitive, GravolTM Quick Dissolve Chewables (available for kids and adults) are an effective and convenient option to treat nausea, vomiting and dizziness, so you can get there more comfortably and with less worry. (Don’t take GravolTM chewables and drive, as GravolTM Quick Dissolve Chewables may cause cause drowsiness).
If we don’t want to stay anywhere overnight we can take a day trip to one of many parks and lakes have a picnic, take the dogs for a walk and then hit a favourite restaurant on the way home so that no one has to cook or clean up afterwards. That is the way I like it :).
Now this picture is from many springs ago but it brings a smile to my face. We were at the park a lot that spring 🙂
My daughter and I are both avid readers so any time to get cozy with a good book, a hot chocolate or coffee is a good time to me. If it’s a bit chilly outside we start a fire in the fireplace and it’s super cozy. We also have a firepit outside in the yard and have on occasion been know to start a marshmallow roast too.
I could go on and on about all the staycation things we can do but I’m just going to share my favourite ones with you.
Plan an indoor excursion. Take a trip to a museum, gallery or science centre (to name a few). Whatever your interest may be – from antiques and art to science and nature – there is an exhibit for you.
At-home makeovers. Be your own glam squad and grab those nail polishes, make-up powders, sparkle eye shadows, styling tools and last but not least…BatisteTM Dry Shampoo! It’s perfect to use between washes and easy to use. Applying quick burst revitalizes hair and removes any excess oil, adding body and texture. With the new limited-edition BatisteTM Ella Henderson Sweet & Seductive Dry Shampoo, you’ll feel like a celebrity, with hair that looks, feels – and smells – great!
Crafts, puzzles and games galore. Now you have time to get into a new project with your kids that could take a few hours or few days, you decide.
Try new recipes. The March break can have us feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, inspiring us to tackle that new recipe you or your kids have been wanting to try. Whether it’s a batch of cookies – or a yummy stew – take advantage of your time. It might end up being something you love!
In addition to all the good food you’ll cook up, make sure all family members get the get their daily recommended nutrients by taking VitafusionTM Men’s or Women’s Complete Multivitamin and Lil’CrittersTM Gummy VitesTM for kids.
Get outside. Go for a walk, a skate at a local rink and maybe pop into a coffee shop to escape from the cold and warm up with a delicious drink.
Now are you ready for a giveaway? One lucky family will win the prize pack below! Open to Canadian residents 18 years of age and older (excludes Quebec)
