Galaxy's Edge Overview: Everything You Need to Know

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge officially opened in Disneyland on May 31. Soon it will arrive at Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World on August 29. Whichever Coast you travel to, I'm sure Galaxy's Edge will be at the top of your list of things to do at the resort. Before you go, there, here is a quick Galaxy's Edge overview of everything you need to know about this boundary-pushing new land.Galaxy’s edge, star wars, disneyland, galaxy’s edge food, galaxy’s edge shops, galaxy’s edge attractions, galaxy’s edge story

Everything is Different on Batuu

The first thing to be aware of in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge is that its set on a whole other planet. nothing is meant to link the outpost town to its respective theme park. The planet is called Batuu and it is a remote civilization on the galaxy's edge, which has served as a low profile place for those evading the authorities to lay low. As another planet, you can expect everything to be curiously different, from drinking vessels to toys. Even the food is made from very unusual sounding animals. The Tip Yip tastes like chicken!

Caught in the Middle

Black Spire Outpost is a town that has gone unnoticed by the rest of the galaxy until recently. Suddenly now there is a First Order presence and a Resistance encampment. They have brought their battle to the outpost which is not good news for the scoundrels who normally have dealings here. There are three entrances to Galaxy's Edge which correlate with the three parts you might play when you visit Galaxy's Edge. Resistance Forest is on the south side, a short walk from Splash Mountain. The First Order entrance is near Fantasyland, and the central entrance is across Big Thunder Trail from Big Thunder Mountain.Galaxy's Edge Overview

Disney Play App Datapad

To get the most of your Star Wars adventure, you want to get involved in the story wherever possible. The way to do this is to use the Galaxy's Edge Datapad on the Disney Play app. Create a profile by selecting Resistance, First Order, or Scoundrel. Once inside you can use your Datapad in a variety of ways. You can translate alien writing, scan for precious cargo, hack panels and other systems and tune in to satellite frequencies. These tools allow you to carry out different jobs around Galaxy's Edge to earn credits and badges.Galaxy's Edge Overview Galaxy’s edge, star wars, disneyland, galaxy’s edge food, galaxy’s edge shops, galaxy’s edge attractions, galaxy’s edge story

Millenium Falcon Facts

Millenium Falcon Smugglers Run seats six and has three parts to play. Each passenger is either a pilot, gunner, or an engineer. You are assigned your position, but you can switch positions. The height requirement on Millennium Falcon is 38". Single Rider, Rider Switch and Fastpass are available. While in the queue, don't miss the chance to pick up some jobs working for Hondo.

The Marketplace Shops

For a Galaxy's Edge overview of shops, there are two main complexes. One contains two toy shops (one being a 'creature stall' of plush toys, an apparel shop, and a trinket shop. The other is where you will find droid and lightsaber building experiences as well as high-end merchandise such as authentic reproductions of movie props. Each shop has a proprietor with his or her own backstory to contribute to the setting.

Other merchandise is found at First Order Cargo on the east end of Galaxy's Edge and Resistance Supply on the South West end.

The Food in Black Spire Outpost

For a quick Galaxy's Edge overview of dining... If you go through the centre entrance you run right into Savi and Son Salvage (lightsaber workshop). Going right will take you to First Order territory and the Milk Stand. Moving up and to the left will take you right pas the food. Kat Saka's Kettle and Ronto Rosters lead up to Docking Bay 7 where you will find the most menu items to choose from. They also have a different menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you pass the Millennium Falcon and head the other way you will find Oga's Cantina. This popular watering hole requires a virtual check in so you can receive a text when there is an opening in the line.
